Cherry:
On Malone: "Those Irishmen have a lot of guts."
No comment on Czechs, specifically Petr Sykora, who scored the winner.
OT3 10:03:
How about that?
OT3 10:39:
Dumb high stick on Scuderi. Four minutes. This should end it.
OT3 13:40:
Giv Bob Cole credit. He's sounds the same as he did 4 hours ago.
OT3 18:00:
I need coconut water ... preferably in a pina colada.
OT3 20:00:
Wow! Lidstrom has played 42 minutes.
OT3 20:00:
Malkin will end this.
OT2 00:00:
And on it goes.
OT2 2:16:
O-zone hook by Sykora! Brutal.
OT2 5:00:
Incredible they can still skate
OT2 10:00:
Fleury's been amazing.
OT2 12:30:
Crossbar, post ... will this ever end?
OT2 14:00:
Great PK and more good legs from Helm.
OT2 :
Another Detroit penalty? That's brutal.
OT2 17:40:
Both teams look tired. Must be hot in the rink. Bad ice.
OT2 20:00:
Cherry thinks the Gonchar injury will catch up with Pittsburgh. Sound reasoning. Five d-men for five periods is tough.
Cherry:
Again with Roberts. He's killing me.
OT 00:00:
Man, my beauty sleep is in jeopardy tonight.
OT 1:00:
Cleary heroic on the PK.
OT 2:35:
How did he keep that out? And Pittsburgh goes on the PP. And Zetterberg, the best PK guy, goes off.
OT 3:40:
Smart change by Babcock, throwing on young legs Hudler and Helm
OT 7:00:
Shots are 42-19. That's sick.
OT 7:09:
Zetterberg was totally gassed on that sequence.
OT 10:18:
Now Pittsburgh comes on a bit.
OT 13:29:
Detroit's getting all the chances, which means Pittsburgh will score.
OT 15:43:
Not exactly elegant hockey. They must be tired.
OT 17:00:
A couple of icings.
OT 19:00:
Pretty careful so far.
OT 20:00:
So whaddaya figure? Three overtime periods?
Cherry:
Heaps praise on Staal, Talbot, Malone. "These are the guys you win with." We'll see. He's such a xenophobic schmuck.
3P 00:35:
God, I love hockey! Unbelievable.
3P 2:30:
What a clinic on lead protection.
3P 5:00:
Detroit keeping the foot to the gas pedal.
3P Break:
Nice trophy. And what team is on it 24 f.ing times?
3P Break:
This period has demonstrated everything that's great about Detroit. Total domination.
3P 9:30:
Lilja, no stick, makes a greatplay on Crosby. Bob doesn't notice.
3P 10:34:
That should do 'er.
3P Timeout:
Hmmm. A little early for this.
3P 12:00:
Penguins hanging on by their flippers.
3P 13:14:
Wow! What, 10 passes, including a carom off the boards. And it's 2-2.
3P Break:
Bigest PP of the series coming up here.
3P 14:17:
Fleury hot-dogged that save, but it was a beaut.
3P 16:00:
End to end. This is crazy.
3P 17:40:
Fleury's got a Biron-sized horseshoe up there.
3P 19:59:
Wouldn't golf be great if they got to the 18th hole looking like Ryan malone?
3P 20:00:
I think this one's ging back to Pittsburgh.
2P 1:22:
OOO! Malone blocks one with his face.
2P 2:50:
Bob is right: save of the series! Fleury is the most athletic goalie in the league.
2P 5:00:
How did Z miss that?
2P Break:
Pittsburgh is bending but not breaking here. I thought Detroit would have tied it up by now.
2P 7:00:
Bob hasn't noticed, but Pascal Dupuis has played a good game.
2P 8:00:
Pittsburgh PK has been the best part of their game in this series.
2P Break:
Crosby goes ... and man, he's pissed about it.
2P 11:00:
Fleury is making huge stops.
2P Break:
That PP was pathetic. It's all Detroit at this point.
2P 13:00:
That Filppula's going to be good.
2P 14:12:
Not a smart retaliation by Maltby.
2P 17:02:
Finally. Hey, Gary Roberts was on for that Detroit goal. Game on.
2P 19:40:
Two giveaways to start. Millen is right: Detroit's been off all game.
2P 20:00:
Fleury will have to be huge because Detroit is going to crank it up.
Stanley Cup Moments:
Canadiens win their fourth!
Coach's Corner:
Again, Gary Roberts. "And anyone who criticizes him is a dummy." ... He's right about Malkin on that offside ... He's right about Crosby diving, also ...
1P 00:00:
Almost 3-0 a couple times, Hossa and Crosby
1P 00:50:
Crosby makes a great neutral-zone check on Zetterberg, Cole doesn't notice.
1P 1:50:
Millen says Detroit looks nervous.
1P 3:00:
Fleury is hot and the Wings aren't finishing.
1P Break:
Confounding the so-called "experts" ...
1P 5:18:
Fourth-line effort. No one touches Hall coming out of the corner and Kronwall gets an OG. This might not be their night
1P 7:00:
Great shift for Zetterberg line.
1P 8:40:
Hossa's goal was his 11th, breaking a tie with R.J.F. Umberger
1P 9:10:
Some 4-on-4. Should be good.
1P Break:
Hmmmm. How will Pittsburgh build on that?
1P 11:23:
Wow! Dupuis throws a great forecheck and Hossa scores. They're alive.
1P Break:
Red jerseys all around the Pittsburgh puck-carrier in the D-zone. Great system.
1P 13:00:
Poor Malkin! What a mess.
1P 14:35:
That call on Datsyuk was ridiculous
1P 15:40:
Second wave of the PP was dangerous, but that's a boost for Pittsburgh. Then Too Many Men Pittsburgh. Therrien is in trouble.
1P 18:00:
Roberts with Crosby and Hossa. And Detroit goes on the PP. They're overdue.
1P 19:00:
"Both coaches have done a wonderful job" – Millen. Really?
Whoah!:
Nice dress on the anthem singer
Babcock's McGill tie:
3-0 in the playoffs
1P 20:00:
If Detroit opens the scoring, chill the champagne.
Holmstrom:
Back in. No changes for Pittsburgh.
Cap woes:
could await Pittsburgh, say Pierre McGuire and Damian Cox. They have to re-sign Malkin, who won't be giving any hometown discounts, and Fleury. Orpik is probably out of there, as is Hossa.
Another reason I want the Wings to win tonight:
Canadiens played their first exhibition game Sept. 17. It's June 2. Enough already.
Just what the NHL needed:
Another shady owner: Boots Del Biaggio, who is part of the group that owns the Nashville Predators. This is the guy who was supposed to get an expansion franchise for Kansas City, another red-hot hockey market.
Sundin:
all wrapped up and ready to be shipped here at the deadline until he invoked his no-trade. Cliff Fletcher confirmed it in a conversation with Yvon Pedneault.
Ron Wilson:
to Toronto. Done deal.
Michel Therrien:
is just getting toasted for playing Malkin more minutes than Crosby, for using 42-year-old Gary Roberts through a whole power play and for calling a timeout during the 5-on-3, which gave Zetterberg, Lidstrom and Kronwall, who were gassed, 30 seconds to regroup, confer in Swedish and kill the rest of the penalty.
Fleury was fantastic...............further illustrates how far you might go when you get better than junior B goaltending.
"OT3 13:40:
Giv Bob Cole credit. He's sounds the same as he did 4 hours ago."

The above quote is from Boone. It contains mistakes, and Boone "did not notice". That's what Boone is always saying about Cole during the game concerning various events that happened, e.g., someone playing without a stick, a good hit, etc. Maybe Cole noticed, but just did not comment. Maybe Boone saw his typos, but just did not bother to correct them.
There was one time when the referee blew the whistle because it seemed like Detroit had scored. Right away Cole said it hit the crossbar, and he was right. I can't understand all this criticism of a 76 year old broadcaster. People in Canada, Boone included, have the option of watching the game on NBC or RDS. Imagine Boone's blog when he's 76. lol
The point is Cole is long past his sell by date. Hockey is much more enjoyable if you have a good commentator. I really like Pierre Houde, but usually watch it on NBC or CBC because it's English. Bob should just retire gracefully instead of embarassing himself.
I agree that Cole should have retired a few years back. How many 76 year olds are you going to get in any profession, especially broadcasting a professional hockey game which has to be very demanding. It's not his fault that CBC keeps hiring him back. I just find it ironic how somebody can continually criticize him, while at the same time making all kinds of mistakes in his own profession. Boone understands French, and is always praising the French broadcasters, so why not watch them if he is so agitated by Cole's performance.
Static Ed - Cole, Boone and that pain Millen didn't even notice that Gonchar only played the first shift in the third and nothing else in regulation so they all had a bad day. It's CBC managements decision to go with Cole and Millen and Canadians have to suffer unfortunately. Enjoy your retirement Mr. Cole and nobody is twisting your arm to come back and take Patton's advice or was it MacArther and just fade away.
I would agree with you if the CBC wasn't a PUBLIC broadcasting company.
I'm sure theres a lot more we could whine about where our tax dollars are going, but how many revolutions have been quelled by fine beer and a good sports event? Too many to count I would think hahaha...
The Cincinatti Cyclones of the ECHL defeated the Las Vegas Wranglers 4-0 to take a 3-2 lead in their best of seven Kelly Cup series. The series heads back to Cinci for game 6 on thursday. The line of David Desharnais had four assists and was the games first star, Cedric Desjardins stopped 27 shots for the shutout and was the second star while Jean-Michel Daoust had a goal and an assist for the third star. Nice to see the baby Habs doing well.
55 saves! Not bad for the guy that did such a wonderful impersination of a sieve earlier in the game. Who gets credit for taping up his 5-hole?

Fleury definitely upped the ante for Conn Smythe.
and as series goes longer osgood gives over to zetterberg
Nice goal. Not the typical ugly ass thing that usually decides a game like this.
You definitely hate to see fluke goals polish it off.
