Audio: Habs heroes TK, Kovy after Game 1

Canadiens' Game 1 heroes Tom Kostopoulos, who scored the winner in overtime, and Alex Kovalev, who earned first star for his two goals, including one which set the stage for TK's clincher, are caught here on mp3 in the dressing room after the game.

(One benefit to overtime and newspaper deadlines: you sometimes can get players alone in the dressing room, as you'll hear in the second Kostopoulos and Kovy clips. And the first 65 seconds of Kovalev doing a Russian interview sounded so cool, I didn't edit it out.)

Nice to hear Kovy in Russian, and he's continuing to plug his DVD! Kosto sounds like a such a humble person, BG really found a gem in T the B. Thanks for the audio Mr Stubbs!

would still like to see some posters at the game saying;CBC-CUT BOB COLE. Don Cherry must have been drugged last night to be wearing a Canadians tie. what a waste of a good tie. Hope Ryder gets to play soon,

I figure Cherry lost a bet to someone that actually knows about hockey... Hence the Canadiens tie.

Hey Dave, Great story today man! (-> No-quit Habs win in overtime). As a Montreal fan - first and foremost an Expos fan - I was touched and glad to see you make a reference to "Nos Amours". I loved that team... And that's why I now hate the MLB. I also liked how you tied-up / connected the first line of your story to your last. Really nice. Thanks. Go Saku! Go Habs! Go Expos!

It has been a series and a game that everyone seems to want breezer out nd Dandy out... Last night was a fluke play. Breezer was well positioned and put his stick where it was supposed to go and it went in. It happens... If it would have been Markov would people put on O'Byrne instead??? I don't think so. His passes for ost of the night were tape to tape... Can't say that for most of the game for the rest of the guys.... Second... Dandy I believe is more useful to us because he hits and has heart. I know I have been hard with Ryder but, he is does not have the hands of a kovy or Koivu... He has to stop trying to deak everyone he sees.. It doesn't work... He also has to win battles on the boards... He does not do that. You want to win a battle on his just hit him a little and he coughs up the puck. May be he is sitting for a reason we don't even know. We don't know what happens in the dressing room... We have a winning formula right now. I expect Latendresse to play a few games this series. Only if the series gets rougher. Other than that same lineup. Players win games, teams win championships. - Bill Taylor

Nope!!!! I stuck up for Brisebois all series and I realize last nights goal by breezer wasnt his fault he tried to take away the pass btu I just think he needs a rest, hes been playing great all playoffs and this is by no means a bash, just a simple observation, I think he needs a break... As for the dandy for ryder situation, I really havent seen dandy do anything special throughout last series and last nits game, Ryder just needs to shoot more and he can score if he does, especially against biron, only thing I see dandy having is speed, last nite he tried to do something fancy and tried to toe drag and put it through the defender's legs and go around him when he should have just chipped it in and chased it, instead he just gave the puck away, dandy isnt made for plays like that... "11 'Till 25" "If I wanted to hear from an ***, I would fart..."

Brisebois looked VERY shaky last night as well as tired, he needs a rest imo.. Time to bring in O'Byrne.

I think Lats deserves another shot - he had a solid sophomore season, especially considering what they pay him, and he'll at least bring some size to a line that currently has two defencemen on it. 1. www.flickeringpictures.com - not a hockey site, but still kinda neat 2. Josh Gorges on Montreal's attack: "They're comin', they're comin' and they keep comin'. Just line after line, wave after wave..."

My Views From Last Nights Game: 1) Price looked pretty shaky at some points last nite, 2 goals were not his fault but the third goal scored on him, should have been a doozie, I was surprised he dropped it, very uncharacteristic of him...but he had good moments and in no way would I ever doubt him... 2) Cant-stop-a-this Kostopolous...Nuff said!!! 3) Skoz is a trooper, I thought Horatio Caine would show up with his CSI's to investigate a homicide when he got hit by Hatcher...The kid got right back up...It actually looked like Hatcher swallowed Skoz, cause the size difference is huge and I couldn't see Skoz anymore... 4) The Heart and Smoke Foundation had a lot of good chances throughout the game also but couldnt get a shot off or had a bad bounce... 5) As much as I admire Brisebois for the way hes been playing, I think it's time to sit him for O'byrne and sit dandy for Ryder...Ryder really is no use to us in the press box and could come in handy by replacing dandy...(I wasn't trying to sound cute, I'm serious lol) 6) Koivu has been on fire in the faceoffs since he's been back... 7) Biron is a weak goalie, hes good down low with his legs but weak up high and the Habs should be focusing on taking alot of high shots...I knew we would come back in last night game, wasn't too sure who would come out with the win but obviously i was thinking the habs would... 8) Wow is Philly's D SLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLOW, we have to exploit that weakness, especially if Hatcher is along the boards, chip it by him and blow right by him... 9) Last nights game was not as physical as I expected it to be... I totally did not expect a goal from that line as the OT started last night, but that line totally deserves recognition not only for that game-winner, but for the way they held the Habs in it for most of the Bruins series....outstanding. On another note...I had some company last night to watch the game so for their benefit we watched on CBC. Wow, talk about a complete turnaround by Cherry. Even wearing "his" Habs tie! Canadiens are the only Canadian team left. Think that (and ratings) might have something to do with it??? So transparent.

I still can't figure out why I am unable to get any of the audio in here, although I get the puckcasts just fine. On a different note, what's with the Terms and Conditions popping up at this late date?

Heard one I hadn't thought about this morning. Yeah, Its hard to discount the Breezer's vetran experience in this one... He better buy the team a beer for digging his @$$ out of being the goat. I would expect him to be replaced after that showing...
