Guys and girls, Dave and the administrator's told me last time to not keep trying to post. They kept inisting that I had to try and not click twice. However, i don't. I too tried to not repost it (including different words and editing it) it would never appear. We'll just have to wait for them to work out the bugs. We're getting a heck of a lot of traffic these days 900+ posts for last few Boone Game blogs as well as an elevated number of posts commenting on Dave or Kevin's articles. You know what, these administrators must be dying, they probably can't even watch the games because they have to make sure nothing goes wrong and are probably hard at work. Kudos to them. Damn! Frenzy tours is planning another trip for game 4 in Philly for $300.00 but Maybe ill wait till a city with a much safer crowd comes along, Philly fans are the worst I heard...Maybe I could just blend in with them wearing philly colors but start rooting for the habs discreetly... lol, thats a pretty good deal for $300.00... WOW,] Good for us to land the flyers. This should be a great series to watch fast paced and lots of hits. Carey will out duel Biron on this one. We will have to bring it because they will. There's alot of good hockey this year every series is a must watch. Go Habs Go

WHAT PHILLY IS SAYING: "I've played against [the Kostitsyns] a few times and they're skilled guys," Carter said. "They have a real puck-possession mind-set whoever they play with. They cycle, cycle, and try to make plays. We have to play hard on them, take away their time and space." well folks, there you have it....the FLYERS GAME PLAN. play physical and take away our time and space....exactly what the Bruins were throwing at us. So they're going to be chasing us down, we need quick puck movement and we need to throw our weight around. Damn this is going to be a good one...

I definitely wanted to face the Flyers over the Rags so I'm glad they won, even though a Crosby/Ovechkin series would have been good. http://yourhabs.com - My Montreal Canadiens Blog

Ah, the big, bad Flyers. What does Benoit “My Suit Is Shinier Than Crete’s” Brunet call ‘em? “Faux tough”? Love that. Faux tough. You fight me, you fight my gang. This is not the team of Schultz, Saleski, Dornhoefer, Dupont, Kelly, and Clarke. It’s Hartnell and Cote, with doses of some bus bathroom fetishist named Steve “The Shame of Windsor” Downie. Big whoop. Granted, GM Paul “Goon Wannabe #1” Holmgren and head coach John “Goon Wannabe #2” Stevens are goon wannabes, but goon wannabes don’t get to dress for the game. That’s why we call ‘em wannabes. Faux tough, indeed. Granted, as well, The Broad Street Phonies have a half-decent goaltender in Martin Biron. It’s kind of interesting. Although there have been the tongue-wagging Hextalls and tragic Lindberghs, as well as a couple of pan flashers, goaltending was never really a priority in Philly when that toothless wondergoon, Bobby “Bobby” Clarke ran the operation. See, Bobby (or Bobby) hates goalies. Hates ‘em. It all started with the 1974 Stanley Cup victory when Bernie “Denis Lemieux” Parent was awarded the Conn Smythe. That was bad enough. But then Parent had the sheer, unbridled audacity to win it again in 1975. Sure, Reggie “Bowl Cut” Leach was awarded it in 1976, but the Goon Squad had been swept by Nos Canadiens in the finals. Take that, Bobby! It wasn’t the goonin’ that won you Lord Stanley’s coveted cup – arguably more of a bowl, but the Stanley Bowl would just confuse sports fans down south – rather, it was the goaltending. You see, you really were the Broad Street Goalies, and it drives you up the wall. Although I’m digressing, I’m quite optimistic about this upcoming series. They’re getting their scoring from some poor sap a lot of Hab fans generally dislike, nay, hate outright. When Shanahan accepted less money than the Habs were offering, to go play for the New York Averys, nobody batted a blue-white-and-red eyelash. But when Briere ostensibly turned his back on Gainey & Co.? Yikes! The loudest fans in the NHL will be on him like a hobo on a ham sandwich. Add a little slappin’ around and he’ll melt down like, well, Brie…uh…re on the hood of a flame-engulfed police cruiser. As far as not seeing him pull on a Habs jersey? Personally, I could not care less. I think hockey players have to look like hockey players and Briere doesn’t have a hockey player’s face. So, I don’t want him on the team. To be fair, Sergei Cause-It’s-In doesn’t look like a hockey player either, unless, of course, we’re talking The St-Joseph Oratory Choirboy Pickup League, but he more than compensates for it by being clinically insane. And, speaking of Crazyboy, I expect each and every Hab to have an ego; it’s a prerequisite to success. Do you think Roy didn’t park his red unjalopy by the front door of the fruit store in Pierrefonds, presumably to expedite his fruit purchases, while the great unwashed tucked their rusty K-Cars and bulbous Caprice Classics into the pre-designated parking grid and undertook the trek to the door? You bet he did. With a big screw-you-I’m-Patrick-Roy-and-you’re-not grin on his face. I look forward to his #33 up in the rafters, where it deserves to be, along with the jerseys of other warriors whose only thought – only thought – was victory. Although I am once again digressing, I still remain quite optimistic about this upcoming series. Here’s why: · The Habs are a superior, more complete hockey team from back to front. · The Habs learned a lesson in the first round. Habs in five. Oh, and go f*** yourself, Don. JD

Hahaha it does look pretty awkward but thanks, dammit!!! it wont let me change my pic, well it does but it keeps going back to my original pic, if it changes anytime soon, i'd appreciate it if someone would let me know "12 'Till 25" "If I wanted to hear from an ass, I would fart..."

Okay, "Crystal Ball" time. No, not the Styx album. Habs over Flyers in 5 or 6, Rangers over Penguins in 6, Sharks over Stars in 4 and Avs over Wings in 7. What do all your balls tell you?

CaptainKomisarek's picture
No matter who we would've played (Flyers or Rangers), we would end up booing someone. Rangers: Avery, Jagr Flyers: Briere Lucky for us that we don't have to play the rangers. I don't think we would be able to pull off those 5 goal comebacks every time. Now whoever eliminates who in the Rangers and Pens series will make it much easier. One team has to go down, so it's glad its between them two. Habs are still to play a team that they lost to in the regular season which is a good sign. We are back to playing our style of hockey and not that hitting style the Bruins play.

HAB-PROFESSOR - Like krob, I too tried to defend you, and got flagged as potential spam. I hope that's not a trend! :) You are a passionate fan, and I think that's great. thanks ED. yourself, KROB1000, BIGBIRD and others have raised the Bar on this site. in-depth worthwhile reads, that rival the Pro's like Stubsy and Hicks!

What I like about this is that the in-game matchups favour the Habs. The Flyers have the Timonen/Coburn pair that they'll try to ice against the Koivu line. That leaves Hatcher, Jones and Smith to cover the Pleks/Brothers line. Meanwhile, I like the mobility of the Habs' defence, especially if Markov is feeling better. We'll see Komo/Markov against Richards and Hamrlik/O'Byrne or Breeze against Briere. http://habsloyalist.blogspot.com

No Calder for Carey!! Toews, Kane or Backstrom!!

Well .........on the bright side Carey is the only one out of that group still contending for the only trophy that really matters. He already won the Calder anyway ...the Calder Cup.

that is weak -- and BS

At the beginning of the last game they were announcing our starting lineup and I noticed they only said higgins and Koivu and then went to the D, I looked at my dad and said Kovalev with Saku? and sure enough...... I was saying that I didn't like the fact that we were making changes in a GAME 7, just as I said that, Kovalev does a behind the back, off the backboard move and shut me up. That my friends was a bold move by Carbo, not to mention the Kostitsyn's playing together. Can't wait to see the lines for tomorrow.

Dave, I'm not sure where to post this or how to contact anyone other than to do it this way. Yesterday I replied to a post and a popup came up saying my post had been flagged as possible spam, and that it would only be put on the site after a site administrator reviewed it. Not sure what could possibly have been spamish about it. As of today it hasn't been posted. Are there rules somewhere that we can see regarding what type of content gets flagged this way? My post was simply disagreeing with someone regarding Don Cherry. Maybe that viewpoint is being censored? (just kidding)

Bean's picture
Yeah, posts being labelled as possible spam has been an on-going issue. Last I heard (from various site admin-y types who've posted about it) it has to do with the site's spam blockers working overtime to keep out the actual spam and occassionally a real post gets caught up in it. Sometimes if you make several posts in quick succession it sets it off. I think they're still working on refining it.

Ed's picture
I got flagged today, and was told I could contact the site administrator if I believe it was an error. I did not have any spam in it, and I don't know how to contact the administrator. I don't think these items ever get posted, and if they are, they are then well down the line, and who is going to read them then. With all the flaggings, I wonder if this site has been infiltrated by the leafs!

Connecticut Man1's picture
I got flagged on a comment too? The comment still hasn't posted, and I am certain it wasn't spam... lol Someone must have flagged a part of the threads OR went through and flagged everyone? Any HIO admin. comments on this?

Habhopeful's picture
The trick is to change a couple words or delete something you feel doesnt belong in there, it happened to me before and I just deleted certain things and then it worked "12 'Till 25" "If I wanted to hear from an ass, I would fart..."

Wierd. I don't really see how or why anyone would post spam here. I guess it's not that big a deal if it doesn't happen that often, although I was prety frustrated yesterday because I'd written a long response and thought it out thoroughly, and then it didn't get posted and I didn't have a copy of it anywhere so all that time and effort was lost.

Jonnyboy's picture
It doesn't happen all that often. Maybe it does they just catch it?

Ed's picture
HELP, I just got flagged again. I am getting very frustrated, and might have to leave this site, which I just love. Is anybody listening? EDIT - That's funny. When I posted this, I saw that my flagged post was just below. There is somebody listening.

Happened to me earlier too......perhaps the work of an evil FORCE beyond common sense and reason...a ghost from the not so distant past ......ahhh!! for force sakes! it can't be ...it must be...it can't be shoudn't that ghost be on the back nine with Mats by now ...it's almost 1 o'clock.

Ed's picture
LOL

Ed's picture
Yes, that is very frustrating indeed. From now on, when we do something that takes a while, we should paste it to Word (or where ever), in case we need it again. When I got flagged, I tried another post, and was told that my IP address (and they told me what it was), was recently used to post spam, and I was not allowed to post new content. In other words, the first time I was told I had been flagged for potential spam, and the second time I was told I had posted spam. They said I could contact the site administrator if I believed there was an error. I am sure it was an error, but how do I contact the administrator? It's very frustrating indeed, and I am always afraid that I will be flagged. I have never been told by e-mail what the problem was. OK, memo to self. Ed, remember to COPY and PASTE. Here we go again. Now, hit POST COMMENT, and pray to the GODS. :)

ED - I'm going to take your advise with the paste bit as the same thing happened to me Saturday morning as i took about an hour to finish my nice post which was accurate and within the guide lines , in other words a nasty piece of work (probably backing Ryder, now that i think of it) and i got the error message and got upset and went for another cup of coffee and when i got back i forgot what i was posting about, simply a wrinkle thing , i quess , i'm not called Captain Dementia for nothing.

Ed's picture
LOL! Welcome aboard the good ship Dimentia, Captain. It's a serious disease I know, but I think most of us have it to a certain degree as we get older. I know there are lots of times that I forget things. It's too bad we can't copy and paste to our brains! Another thing we could do is type it first in Word, and then copy and paste to HIO. I find it's a bit difficult to follow a long post in the space given in HIO, and I have to look at it in Preview.

Copy and paste to our brains , i love it. Thanks for the advice, lol.

Dan23's picture
Unfortunately, I think a large part of this series will depend on the quality of the officiating. In the games that the Canadiens played against the Flyers this season, the Habs took full advantage of the dumb penalties and Broad Street Bully-mindedness of the Flyers to make them pay. Given how the first round has gone, the refs were fairly inconsistent and it is abundantly clear that they are not calling playoff games in the same way that they did during the regular season. On some nights, the whistle is put away, on others it seems like the refs are only interested in handing out an equal number of penalties to both teams. The Flyers have a bunch of players for whom goonery is essentially the only reason they're up with the big club. I can only hope that with half the number of series being played, the best officials will be on the ice. It's going to be a rough and tumble series, and surely entertaining!

Hoegarden's picture
Re Flyers/Caps and the second goal. When in doubt, check the rules.... as in 67C which reads quote A minor penalty shall be imposed on an attacking player who deliberately checks a defensive player, including the goalkeeper, who is not in possession of the puck. unquote The Caps should have, immediately after the goal was allowed, put that rule on the scoreboard for the crowd to see and hopefully have them chant 67C just to humiliate those to incompetent clowns. So we have the goons moving on and we(hockey fans) lose Ov,Semin,Green et all for this. Habs better be prepared for this. Like Fred Shero used to say to his players back in the days of the Broad Street Bullies, "They can't call them all". The NHL loses credibility once again because of this discusting officiating.

the guy had the puck tho --- he had just shot it away -- therefore good call by the ref

No, the Flyers player passes the puck to his teammate, then he (the first flyer) checks the capitals defenceman who does not have the puck and never did, into the goalie, pushing the goalie out of the way, allowing the second flyer who now has the puck, to score. yes, it should have been an interference call against the flyers. there's no way that should have been a goal. why wouldn't you just do that all the time? stand in front of the net, and as soon as your teamate is going to shoot the puck, just push a defencman into the goalie?

Rocket9 - IMO you got it right and Darren Pang explained it correctly on TSN , with a smile of course.

shadi's picture
I'm really looking forward to this series. Our crowd will certainly be a factor, especially if Briere is not as effective as he was in the first round. I really think the Habs can win this in 5 or 6 games, because Philly does not have the same calibre goaltending as Boston does. Their team defence is also not as effective, which should help Montreal with their speed. The Flyers take too many penalties, and if the Habs fix their PP woes, the series will be over fast. And... who could forget the last time these teams met in the playoffs? Chelios with an elbow to Brian Propp's head (pretty dirty hit) in game 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zaHQ5mLiL1w ...and Hextall's response with a minute to go in game 6: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8B4dlCO030 I'm not hoping for those type of antics in this series, but there will definitely be some hatred between these teams by game 2 or 3. Go Habs Go!

Dan23's picture
Thomas played well in Games 2, 3 and 4, but overall I would say Martin Biron is a better goaltender if you do a side-by-side comparison. He played quite well last night, and so I figure the key will be pressuring the Flyers defencemen, avoiding the neutral zone trap, and pumping up the power play (which looked very good in Game 7 even if they only got one goal). Just hope the refs call the game fairly - Game 7 was terrible in terms of penalty calls (or lack thereof).

shadi's picture
True, but Biron has been fairly inconsistent since he left Buffalo. Personally I think Thomas is a better goalie, so I guess we'll agree to disagree. But you are right... if the quality of refereeing is as poor in round 2 as it was in round 1, the outcome of this series could be decided by a poor call.

Ian G Cobb's picture
Nice to see Quebec representing there whole Country for Lord Stanley's Cup. From the Rock to the Pacific, and even the Toronto media might take notice of the new NHL dynasty in the making.

The CBC is now offically "The Canadiens Broadcasting Corporation" I guess that means they are going to have to swallow some pride, learn to pronounce Kostitsyn, sing the ole song (while not confusing it with the "goodbye" song), etc. Should be pretty amusing watching the expressions and hearing the reluctance in their voices as they forcefully praise the Habs.

Habsgirl's picture
LOL!

coutNY's picture
What's Funny I was watching the Washington/Phili game 6 on an US based channel and in their Highlights of the Habs/B's game 7 where they got the Kostitsyn's name correct but really butchered the pronunciation of USA native Komisarek. Anyway it is weird how CBC commentators seem to purposely mis-pronounce, at times combine, or all together forget the Montreal player's names. You think they would implement a study regimen since the Habs might be their bread and butter in the up in coming years.

shadi's picture
It's pretty ridiculous that the CBC doesn't even acknowledge Montreal as being a legitimate contender for the Cup. I'm not surprised by Dumb Cherry cheering for Boston in round 1. He was also rooting for Pittsburgh against Ottawa. I can live with that, because Cherry is living in his own bubble. I can also live will Bob Cole screwing up names of Habs players... I've actually heard him screw up Leafs names as well. What I absolutely HATE, is that moron Greg Millen, the lifetime backup goalie, who has a career GAA of 3.75 and save percentage around .850, criticizing Price whenever he feels the need to. Get this loser off the air. Go Habs Go! Edit: I stand corrected, his career GAA is worse than I thought... "Millen posted a 215-284-89 in 604 contests. He posted 17 career shutouts and a career 3.87 GAA. In the playoffs he went 27-29 with a 3.42 GAA."

I disagree with the majority of what Cherry says too but he is the only CBC member that did have reason to not support the Habs while playing the Bruins. I can respect him being loyal to the club that he owes his career to. I suspect he will strongly back the Canadiens now as Canad's team and he will be believable because he could probably give you a priority chart at the beginning of the season and would follow it to the letter. He is a Bruins fan, Leafs fan, Canadian team fan, etc, etc, etc Don still knows a lot more about the game than I ever will but he just doesn't seem capable of embracing the changes that have been ongoing for the last 20 years. Greg Millen is not ill intended....he's just ill equipped. Bob Cole should be retired, have a small room in a large building with friendly staff, well balanced scheduled meals and nurses on hand to assist him in his daily activities. Any other Leafs announcers are welcome to room in Cole's wing of the Golden Years Retirement facility. Ron Maclean......he always appeared to be the voice of reason but this year has exposed his blatant displeasure with the Canadiens success. Jim Hughson, Friedman (not sureon the spelling) and Kelly Hrudey get two thumbs up from me.....hopefully they are the future of the CBC.

Habsgirl's picture
Cherry will never back the Habs. He may have worn that Habs' tie but it's because we all went after his job with the CBC. He hates French Canada. I've said it before. He is a bigot. He hates Montreal. Perhaps it's because he could never defeat them as a coach but it goes deeper than that. It's the way he criticizes European players in the league. His true colours show. He doesn't like Montreal because they too have a European flavour as part of French Canada and he is a redneck good ole boy. He may try to cover up his prejudice now, but he said himself he'd cheer for whatever team HAD THE MOST CANADIAN BOYS ON IT. He's going to count Canadians now on rosters. He'll do anything but cheer for a French (in his estimation) team. Who cares anyway? He's a boor. He's a classless, tasteless boor. I don't want the words "Go Habs! Go!" to come out of those bitter lips.

HAB-PROFESSOR's picture
krob said : "Should be pretty amusing watching the expressions and hearing the reluctance in their voices as they forcefully praise the Habs." I have RDS but thats the only reason I tune to the CBC...its added entertainment to hear them suffer!...it proves they are BIASED!

After Boston, I'm not going to make any predictions about five games, six games, or whatever. But we can beat any team in the league, and we can beat this one better than most. 1. www.flickeringpictures.com - not a hockey site, but still kinda neat 2. Josh Gorges on Montreal's attack: "They're comin', they're comin' and they keep comin'. Just line after line, wave after wave..."

Yeah I saw the big 4-0 this season on virtually every show but the Flyers were very hurting most of the season as Richards, Lupul, Hatcher,Doewnie (suspension) Knuble (I think) maybe it was Umberger, etc all had long stretches where they were injured. Biron was also up and down all year so he is a big factor....which Brion will show up (let's hope he's getting ancy watching Mark Recchi stealing his analyst job for TSN). Anyone know anything about Simon Gagne's status......are we going to have to endure the same type of rumours about him returning as Bergeron. He...like Bergeron is best served sitting out until next season.
