Audio: Game-time decision on Habs changes

posted by Dave Stubbs at 11h30 EST on Apr 15

We won't know who Guy Carbonneau will play tonight until 7 p.m. Carbo says any changes are a game-time decision. But there will be no Francis Bouillon on the blue line, apparently.

Bruins coach Claude Julien says that "at this hour" he expects no lineup changes. He quickly added that this didn't mean he might use Patrice Bergeron, merely that a phone call could report a late illness.

Audio: • Guy Carbonneau • Christopher Higgins •Zdeno Chara • Claude Julien

I fully expect the Habs to play an excellent game tonight. Many have already pressed the proverbial panic button. Too soon. Sunday's game was an OT loss, and an OT that the Canadians dominated until the final shot. It was the 2nd game in 24 hours, during which Boston came home and the Habs went on the road. Don't place too much emphasis on one mediocre game. Now, if they play poorly tonight . . .

It was really Tim Thomas who really saved Boston that game imo..

I agree....I think back to the Florida game ealry in the season and Vokoun robbing us and I look at that last one no differently from the third period on......we beat ourselves the first two periods banging and crashing with a lesser skilled team but the third an OT were all Thomas.

I agree with you krob1000... I believe the biggest reason we lost was we got caught up who going to hit opposition harder or more frequesntly. That's a game the Bruins can play. What we need to focus on is a "BALANCED ATTACK", the reason we were successful throughout the year. If we get caught up with everybody throwing hits, we playing into their game because if we unleash our offense weapons they can't match our firepower. Putting in Stewart won't turn the tides to win the "grit war", We would be handy-capping ourselves. As for Claudet Juillonna not playing Kessels, it's because he's not scoring or hitting, you need one or the other to be effective and right now he's a liability. I do agree injecting a big body on the blue line is a good idea, probably should of last game because the vetrans were flat coming off a back to back. I hope Carbo sticks to his style into the playoffs. It worked for most of the year giving motivation and rest to players that need it. Go Habs Go

I agree as Boston played the best they can and yet it took them overtime to beat us. We didn't play our best the last 2 games so we should all expect a much better effort tonight. Pressure on Boston to win but it would be sweet if we can sneak out a win and finish them off Thursday on home ice. We'll see.

We need Ob and the Cube back there. If the cube comes back then 71 can sit. Also, the PP is not working because there is not creativity (and a lack of movement) at present. You can't create scoring chances by passing repeatedly between the half-boards and the point. The Bruins are just moving and watching mostly kovy and Streit do this. I would like to see Markov maning that point on the PP he can create more scoring with passes from there. Striet can shoot and that's it. He has been missing the net lots. Also, he is so predicable when he brings the puck up the ice. Always shoots it in as soon as he gets over center. Markow can create more so give him the puck and the point. Habs need their best players to be there best players. This has not been the case lately. Lastly, must skate, skate, skate. Speed will/has killed the Bruins all year. Use it against them. The habs are making the Bruins look good by playing their game a slower hitting game. We need to play a skating, passing game. If we can do this we should have no problem with an 8th place team. If we can't then we are not contenders after all. Sorry for the long post!

Please put in OB. A Komo who is not 100% can't keep taking hits from Lucic. OB will spread things out by giving and taking hits. __________ 16 for 25 all for one

All I ask is one thing, Guy, Win. Grind them into the boards, pulp their morale into dust and punish them on the score-sheet. If they get back up for more? THEN you can have the Priceberg bleed them to death. 14 to 25 Make it 13, Guy.

Listen to Julien, he has sat Kessel because the B's needed more Grit, he said that Kessel isn't right for this series!...thats what I'm talking about, making adjustments based on your OPPOSITION, not the rose colored glasses approach about being 1st in the east and we only lost 1 game blah blah... THAT IS GARBAGE LOSER TALK.... and we will be LOSERS if Carb doesn't step to the plate and fight fire with fire. Our #1/#2 lines will not dominate unless they can counter the GRIT, they need to step it up, be more physical, and we need more GRIT from the entire lineup..especially the DEFENSE. The B's are not giving us any time on the PP, even CHARA said its their game plan to close our gaps/lanes fast....sure, our finesse style loves TIME! Not sure why Carb is keeping the potential changes underwraps till game time?....not sure it matters? does he think Julien will counter with some other move?...Julien knows who we have in the pressbox. Maybe he is just keeping it from the media, but the players already know. INSERT BOUILION AND OBRYNE...ASAP and if you want to SHUT DOWN LUCIC - you insert STEWART and give him the role of shadowing Lucic...that will remove the B's biggest threat. thats what needs to be done....Tonight is PIVOTAL. --------- 1. THIS IS WAR 1. We will win the CUP 2. The BELL CENTRE should be rebuilt to sit 80,000 fans 3. Beware of the T.R.S.

Not only is Lucic skilled, he also knows how to throw down. He was one of the most feared in thw WHL. From what I've seen of Stewart I'd have to give Lucic the edge in fisticuffs. Wouldn't that be a hit on the ole morale...

its becoming clearer that Lucic is the key to the Habs beating the B's, according to our coach, he is the best player on the opposition. what are we doing about it? what strength is being inserted to match what he is doing to us...simple.

I agree with Lucic being a heck of a find. I loved him in the World Juniors last year where he was Captain of the team. He reminds me of a young Fergie with his hunched back/shoulders.... grit, roughness, and can fight... with anyone. Kind of guy I'd like on my team and he's only 20!

I also admit to thinking Lucic is going to be a heck of a hockey player....I don't have to like him though....if he is going to be the next Cam Neely I have but one question..........Is Ulf Samuelsson one of our black aces????

I don't like him because he is the enemy.... but I wouldn't mind seeing the CH on him. Actually, we may the CH tatooed on him tonight afetr Komi and OB drill him into the boards every chance they get :) (that said... i am making the assumption that OB is playing)

Bouillion will not play tonight according to TSN. O'Byrne is in.

These are 48 looooooong hours..... 1. www.flickeringpictures.com - not a hockey site, but still kinda neat 2. Josh Gorges on Montreal's speed: "They're comin', they're comin' and they keep comin'. Just line after line, wave after wave..."
