The physical presence and leadership of Mike Komisarek will be missed.

Canadiens defenceman Mike Komisarek is sidelined for three weeks with a lower-body injury suffered against the Bruins in Boston on Thursday.
Forward Guillaume Latendresse also won't play tonight in the Bell Centre rematch against the Bruins, suffering from neck spasms. Look for Bryan Smolinski and Steve Bégin to be in uniform, and Mark Streit likely pushed back to defence.
"Mike has a lower body injury, that's all I can tell you, and he's going to out a minimum of three weeks," head coach Guy Carbonneau said of Komisarek after this morning's game-day skate. "We hope that after two weeks we can evaluate him and go day-to-day after that, but it's going to be in that vicinity."
This will put Komisarek out of commission for the balance of the regular season and possibly the start of the playoffs. He's been enjoying a breakout season as a physical presence and a leader of the Habs on and off the ice, through 75 games having scored four goals and 13 assists with a +9 ranking, usually paired with Andrei Markov on the blue line.
This morning's NHL statistics have Komisarek leading all NHL defencemen in categories of hits and blocked shots.
sometimes when you’re missing a key player, you work that much harder to make up for that player’s absence. Let’s hope that is the case. And since on alot of nights, the habs don’t start strong, not showing up, this might cause them to give a full 60 minute effort. You might call it a dose of reality!
they have no other choice but to play harder, especially for Komisarek
With Komisarek out, a soft team just got softer. On the bright side, this time off gives him a chance to recover and get back to form for the grueling playoffs.
We have already been playing with out Komisaurus for a month.
Not sure if you'll read this but, I'm assuming you're saying that because Komisarek seemed to have lost a step from the level he'd been playing for most of season. Yeah.......I guess. However, He was still effective along the boards and continued to draw the other teams ire, with his in-your-face style, from game to game.
read it - true and I hope he comes back in good form.
Fan-freaking-tastic.
Ex nihilo nihil fit
At least we're playing Boston tonight! :)

ITS A SCAM!!!! KOMI'S NOT INJURED!!! A HIT LIKE THAT COULD NEVER TAKE OUT KOMISAURUS!!! its all part of gainey/carbonneau's plan...komi needs rest...they want him fresh for the playoffs...how would it look to us fans if they just sat him...he would never agree to that...but if they tell us that he's injured, we respect that and start bringing up things like "blessing in disguise"....he's gonna be hitting the weights....getting prepped for playoffs...personally, i like it....if we start a severe downwards spiral, look for him to be back in a week and a half or so....right now, we don't need him...we can survive without him...its also a great test of character...when a team hasnt had a significant injury all season, the coach needs to know that they can survive with one....go habs
Quite the conspiracy... but I like it!
Seriously though I don't think Komi has been right for the past 4-5 games. His lower back could be bothering him and Thursday it just got the best of him. When I saw him skating off the ice its the first thing that came to my mind, the way he was bent over slightly to take the pressure off. I am sure its only muscular. Therapy, muscle relaxants and rest should take care of it. If you let it go, muscles will go into spasms and could result in sciatica... thats another story and we don't want to go there... not at this time of the year anyway!
...and the prize for craziest post of the year goes to....
Sorry, folks...right off topic here!
I have found this absolutely awesome Guy Carbonneau tribute site that went online in 1998. Diane Lau is far and away Carbo's biggest fan and the site is a tremendous labor of love.
"The Tribute To Guy Carbonneau" has indivual sections (Retro Carbonneau) highlighting all 24 of his seasons in hockey since his Chicoutimi days. It continues covering his career beyond his playing days up to his present time.
I've gone over many of the site's sections at my own site, breaking things down for readers to glimpse at.
This is one you will want to bookmark, people. It gets inside the heart and soul of Carbo.
I can't say enough about it, actually. It would take about a week to read it all through. I'm about halfway through it, and I have learned more about the man than I ever imagined was out there.
Essential stuff!

Robert L,
It is a great site, I came accross it almost a year ago, I'd forgotten about it. Thanks for the reminder, it's time to revisit it.
I believe the Habs will play better than expected. We a have lot of youth and or defense is not all bad.Komisarek hasn't looked great the last few games. He just didn't seem on his game....Injury wasn't just against boston perhaps.
I should have read the lines below! No Breeze-bye... hooray! Hamr with Streit is a good combo. The Hamr is a good stay-at-home D and Streit can be careless and get caught up.
>The pairings on D;
>Markov-Gorges
>Hamrlik-Streit
>Bouillon-O'Byrne
Gorges as top-2 D? He's played well, but it's a bit ballsy for me. I'd bump up Bouillon before him.

I think you're right Cautious... i'd prefer Bouillon myself.
Well, TradeRyder is back, and for the second time, disguised as a woman. It's been a long time, TradeRyder. How did you manage to stay on the sidelines so long.
Disguised as a woman? Last time it was Ryder's face. Hmmmm... I never knew...
Just couldn't see a better cause then encouraging the Habs to sit the two players most likely to lose us 2 points. IMHO. But that' what it's all about.
Actually, if I remember correctly, the last 2 times it was Ryder's face, but the one before that was a woman. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Also, it's only recently that I saw someone use Breezinski for the first time. Was that you?
Jeez, I can barely remember... lol
No, I saw Breezinski on the "Bench Talk". I think it was Smart Dog or Teacher.
Smart Dog came up with Breezinksi.
"Are the Habs ready to pay the Price?"
Yes, it deserved to be on Bench Talk. I am sure you will have lots of support with your new name. Things will probably be easier than they were in your previous life. LOL
I hope so. Except for Carbo, there aren't that many Breezer and Slackinski supporters. A few though... as hard as that is to fathom.
This team is full of character and they will step up to compensate for Komo's absence. Streit is a capable defenseman and we still have depth in Dandy, Brisebois and further down the line, Cote, Biron, and even Valentenko.
I'm confident that Bégin, Tom the Bomb, Max, Cube, and OB will maintain a sufficient physical presence for the club.
In truth, Komo was not himself of late and the boys still did well with a less than 100% Komo.
Rest up Komo, we'll need you in the playoffs!
Go Habs Go!
The problem is Carbo will play hs ex roomate Breeze-Bye before Dandy. Dandy deserves to be the first man in with the injuries, he has been waiting and is playoff experienced. Streit has struggled at D this season. This is the worst injury this team could have, a top four D out means that Breezer gets played, he simply is not good enough against better teams.
Hope Komi recovers on the proposed time line. But i think that the team played well last game against Boston, because he went out early. The big question is, will the team feel to cocky tonight and assume they just have to make a presence to win. Boston will surely come out flying and full of spite for final revenge. A win will open a small gap atop the standings which would be nice for a change.Lets go Ryder
Sorry ,but because no action taken to call up Biron and others, the Habs will have thier asses handed back to them in a handbag, one that O'bryan can't take by himself. The way I see it is if Carbo was a bigger man he wouldn't be so small minded, dam this is a play-off style game ,why take stupid chances ???
This injury will settle once and for all the dispute between those who believe in the veterans (Slackinski, Breeze-bye, and Dead-enough) from those who think they are dead weight.
With Komi out and any other injury (like Lats), we'll need to rely on these old guys to come through.
My prediction (sadly): with these so-called veterans in on a regular basis, look for us to be a .500 team in the remaining games if we're LUCKY.
Who is a so called veteran? Dandenault at 32 with a hundred playoff games and excellent wheels should be in the line up somewhere.
Thanks for the history lesson.
Back to the reality of 2007-2008. Let's talk about 64 games and only 14 points for a player who is also -13 (worst on the team) on a team that has won most of it's games.
