The National Hockey League is producing an at-a-glance look at the final month leading to the playoffs. The hope is to reproduce this on a daily basis, at roughly mid-afternoon each day.

Habs fan Since '54... Was gonna email RDS tech dept. but maybe one of you guys can answer. RDS HD feed really sux out of certain arenas. Was gorgeous last night out of Bell center. Is this due to home arena's transmission facilities (or lack there of) or the carrier that RDS has to hook up with for transmission back to studios in Montreal. ie Versus . ;-)

Habs fan Since '54... RE: Habs Sweaters. Habs had home whites last year ? Correct ? ;-)

Sergei Kostitsyn is my new favorite player. What hockey sense and awesome passes. You could almost put the two Kostitsyn's and Kovalev on the same line. Wait, there's a thought!

What is this,!! looks like a math quiz. I,m not the sharpest tac on the floor. I think i'll skip over this if you don't mind, and get back to hockey.

zamboni's picture
I don't mind at all, whatever tickles you, just pretend it's not posted.

T-roy West's picture
I knew you would be posting some numbers soon, nice to hear from you. I'll take a look at the numbers later because I'm really too into the game right now.

Chorske's picture
Did you base the simulation on previous head-to-head matches to determine probable outcomes for remaining games? Cos that would be fun.

zamboni's picture
No Chorske, previous matches bear no weighing on future outcomes. I do understand that it's more fun or some might even think more realistic. I thought about it, but implementing it though not impossible, is not as trivial as it might appear, furthermore to I weigh in a team's home / away record as well? how far do I go back? this season only? If i get some free time, I'll look into it.

Hi Dave, I have a question: Do you know why the Canadiens wore their home darks rather than their road whites on the just completed road trip? Thanks, John

Dave Stubbs's picture
Pierre Gervais, the Canadiens' equipment manager, has just confirmed to me what's been speculated: the team wore the "home" red sweaters to give fans out west a look at the historic jersey, one they very seldom see. This was at the NHL's request. Dave Stubbs

Thanks Dave for the info on the sweaters. I kind of figured that might be the reason. Great job, by the way, on this site. I'm fairly new to it and enjoy your's and Boone's pieces as well as the responses by the general public.

Thanks Dave. This is very interesting information. I like where we are, & I like where the leafs are. Unfortunately, they are quickly moving into territory where they will get a very high draft pick this year, if they have any left.

Wouldn't you love to see the expression on Danny Briere's face if Buffalo made it into the playoffs and Philadelphia didn't?

Sbah Reverof's picture
Almost as much as I would enjoy beating Pittsburgh 4-0 in the playoffs, thank you Marian Hossa.

Interesting FA signing by the CH,... I love mini players when they are as talented and solid on their skates as St-Louis is or Theorem Fleury was, but lets face it, our organization's pro scouting's poor performances of the last few years has not yet been able to provide a single player who made it to the Big Club,.. so until something concrete happens there at least once I will remain sceptical.

You said: "but lets face it, our organization's pro scouting's poor performances of the last few years has not yet been able to provide a single player who made it to the Big Club,.. so until something concrete happens there at least once I will remain sceptical." What "poor performances" are you referring to? I think you use the term "the last few years" way too loosely. Look at the number of young faces on this team that were not here 3 years ago, and tell me again that not a single player has made it to the big club! I really don't get what you are talking about.

Well he's still taller than me :(

I'd love the Habs' chances against Boston. Besides their overwhelming winning % of the last few years, I think the Habs simply match up better vs the Bruins than against any other team, with the possible exception of the "new" Atlanta.

awesome dave! thanks !

I guess you'd have to be pretty pleased if we drew Boston! Although 3 games left with Ottawa, 2 with Boston and 2 with Toronto should be interesting. On another note, what can I do to get RDS HD on Rogers in Ontario. I don't want to have to shift to Bell but here is what the folks at RDS told me to do (basically do it myself): RDS is willing to sign a contract with Rogers to broadcast on HD. It is not in our advantage to restrain the broadcast of HD, we want to be available all around Canada and we do not have any exclusivity with any cable dealer at all. We would advice you to contact Rogers again and to tell them that you are willing to receive RDS HD in your region and should insist on that point. We hope you will get RDS HD soon in your region. Best regards, RDS - Customer Service Dept.

my suggestion is fta satelite! havent missed many games this year getting ready for NJ 2nite!

I had the same problem at the start of the season. Our local cable provider carries RDS in SD but they had no plans on offering it in HD. I also called Rogers with no luck. So I went out and bought a Bell dish and HD receiver. Smartest thing I've done in a long time. I'd say you can wait till next year and hope Rogers gets it or switch to Bell now to be able to watch the Habbies make their cup run in glorious HD. GO HABS GO! _________________________________________________________________________ Chuck Norris' calendar goes straight from March 31st to April 2nd; no one fools Chuck Norris.

I contacted Rogers back in January and their response was that they were negotiating with Bell because they have the rights to RDS-HD. Their response: "Thank you for taking the time to write to us, we appreciate your use of online customer service. In your recent email, you have inquired why you are unable to see RDS in HD. Currently Rogers is in negotiations with Bell in order to have access to HD RDS so that we may offer it to our customers. Unfortunately, where Bell owns the rights to this programming it may take some time for any agreement to come to terms. Our Customer Representatives as well as our customer base will be informed as soon as there is confirmation provided as to the possibility of HD RDS becoming part of the services here at Rogers. "

Scotty- We should start a writing cam pane to both Rogers,& Cogeco cable co. Do you have the head office address? I for one will write. Ian

Absolutely awesome Dave. Everything you need to know. I especially like the remaining schedule breakdown. Kudos. "Are the Habs ready to pay the Price?" "Four blind mice, Four blind mice, see how they suck?"
