Canadiens forward Michael Cammalleri meets the media at his Bell Sports Complex stall at noon today. He figures he won't be on crutches long, having already been told to do some walking without them.
Marie-France Coallier, Gazette
• AUDIO: Michael Cammalleri | More Cammy | Jacques Martin English & French | Matt D'Agostini
Canadiens forward Michael Cammalleri was sitting in his stall in sweatpants, a brace beneath on his right knee, crutches at his side, when he met a Montreal media mob shortly after noon today, ready to get his rehabilitation going.
Cammalleri would say nothing beyond he's got an injury to the right knee that will require no surgery, but he was in good spirits and looking to bum lifts from teammates since he can't yet drive a car.
Other quick notes from morning skate: Matt D'Agostini returns to the lineup, over the flu and his short conditioning stint in Hamilton.
Defenceman Paul Mara skated before practice; D Jaroslav Spacek skated with the team, but isn't back yet.
Jaroslav Halak starts in goal. Carey Price returned to the ice after the morning session and spent at least a half-hour alone on the rink, out of goalie equipment, shooting pucks at one empty net. Sometimes, maybe a guy just has to think.
Thats a good shot of the mighty midget. Probably the highest paid midget in the NHL....and worth every dollar we pay him at least. Wish we could say that for all our midgets.
Get well soon Mike. We need you.

Why thank you - I'll keep it down to a minimum ;)
I love Cammy so much. This guy is a warrior and wears his heart on his sleeve.
I have been a fan of Price since he was drafted... He has proven he can win at every level except so far at the NHL level... He is big and can be technically sound when he wants to be....
That said, he seems to be one of these kids who is not mature enough to handle the spotlight and distractions a big city like Montreal offers... He will be a UFA in three seasons... Is that enough time for him to mature and get serious about being a pro hockey player? Maybe... Or he could be another Bryan Fogarty...
Package Price and get something tangible in return. Halak can get the job done. He is young, talented and obviously capable. Use Price to get a top 2 D or top 1 center/forward we need...
The biggest mistake Gainey has made is building a team for the "New" NHL... He is a sucker to think Bettmen was serious about opening up the game... The obstruction is back, just not in the same form it was before... Look at the hit on Cammy that put him out.. Not interference?
Not making excuses for the team... But anytime we play a big team that traps (Florida,Ottawa,Boston,NJersey and so on...) we have little chance to win.. This team is built for a free flowing, skill game... That is why our PP is good and why we do well 4 on 4....
This team has skill, speed and goaltending... We don't have size up front and dare I say enough "Truculence"... I felt dirty saying that... Anyway, it would also help to have a couple of fracking right handed shots on D... I shake my head that everytime we lose a play along the right wall because the D is left handed and can't control the play...
Eklund says:
Sources tell me the Canadiens/Oilers situation is coming to a head..."There are some key players involved..Edmonton Loves this deal. Montreal is waiting. We are hearing the Canadiens also received the best offer yet for one of their goalies, but in doing this deal the Habs would be setting themselves up for an issue with their backup. However, down the line they would be far, far better off were they to make this deal."

names of players invovled?
How do we get rid of Benoit Brunet? I can't take it anymore. He's so negative and he hates the habs. Has anyone ever met someone who likes the guy? I can't take him anymore. What can I do to get rid of him.
Not much of a Brunet fan myself as he does tend to make a lot of mistakes on his call of the game but I wouldn't call him a hab hater. He is negative when the habs play bad and he they did play bad in the first.
go habs go!
need a feed for the game! thanks

Switch Carey Price to a forward position. Forget netminding for now.
Just read a Gazette report that the Lecavalier deal was for Plekanek and Price. Bettman rejected it cause one of Tampa's owners wouldn't give it the O:K.
Maybe Price isn't the future of the franchise after all.
Phenuef in a fight...ha ha ha....i hope he broke something....like his hand..
Price fighting for a spot, even if its on the shootout roster, what a champ. lets kick it tonight.
Today is groundhog day....somehow being a habs fan feels like groundhog day all the time, every season.
go habs go!

Blow up the team, take them apart, and if you can trade Gomez, do it as soon as possible, even if you have to pay part of his salary. I'm sorry, but Carey Price needs to change his pads, to white. It's worked for one to many a goaltender, including his teammate. This team is not making the playoffs, so it's time to face reality and start making some moves for the future. This team has thrown away everything it's had over the last few years. Mis-management has been the greatest problem with this sad excuse, when it was suppose to be a stabalizing factor. New owners, you should start moving to take care of management before the draft in the spring. Pierre Gauthier should be running this team now, and Andre Savard, why didn't he stay where he was doing the most for this team? This is a sound off, a time to get people to rally, and realize, that Gaineys plan, his 5 year plan has backfired, and that he has let far to many players get away for nothing. He has no management skills and his ego when it comes to todays players gets in his way all to often. Gainey has lost way more than he has won, and if Pierre Boivin can't see that, replace him too. This city deserves some smart people running this team, not has beens who aren't pro-active when they need to be. As the game has evolved, Bob Gainey hasn't. He's pulled a Rejean Houle, wrecking any potential, and adding Scott Gomez was a mistake that I swore would stall this team for the next 5 years, it's what he has left on his CONTRACT. You look at what he's spent, and this is a team that won't be able to afford there young talent, what ever young talent is left, and won't find anyone buying at the prices that he's established. The whole NHL laughed the day that Glen Sather was able to move his biggest mistake of his career. Now Bob Gainey is the one left looking like a Boob. His management of PK Subban, one of the best D-men in the AHL, and not calling up one of his best forwards, Brock Trotter, should leave all Habs fans scratching there heads and asking the question, does Bob Gainey really want to win, or is it just and illusion? His decisions should leave everyone in the NHL shaking there heads, and every habs fan shaking with fear. I feel for him and what he has endured with what has happened with his family, and I bow my head humbly with the composure he has maintained during times where bigger men would have crumbled. I believe that his time has passed him though. I think that it is time for Bob Gainey to do what is right for the team, and protect his pride and fire himself.
Arpon Basu just twittered that the Pens might be interested in reacquiring Gill! Please get it done Bob.
Gonchar please
(LOL!)
think habs can get a first rounder for fullofskill gill? No? should they settle for malkin, maybe?
but why?
looking for a pylon?
but that's my question... why would anybody (other than us of course) need a pylon?
Well its simple he played a big part in the Pens winning the cup. In that seventh game he was on the ice at some very key times and killing penalties.
Nahlsy vs. Shiloh in a no-holds-barred cage match. Tonight on HIO, before, during and after a little hockey game against the only Canadian team that's a contender. Stay tuned for big league insults, like "p***k, immature, and long words like psychiatrist. Oooh, I feel the tingle. Do you feel the tingle?

Thanks, showey. Good 1.
With the way the Dogs are playing, is it the coaching or do wwe have great prospects on the farm.
Great coaching mixed with some solid prospects.
I hope the Habs can pull this one off, I have to sit in a bar(pay per view out here) with a bunch of Canucklehead fans.
I stand to lose alot of beers and will have to put up with the gloating about the sisters and Pinecourts favorite son Alex Burrows,I hated Pincourt growing up in Pierrefonds, but I do have him and Kesler in a pool.
That and all I ever hear is that be Habs fans have blinders on and are the worst fans in the league because some fans feel the need to boo the Habs if they put up a stinker, as if they don't!
i am not trying to start a fire or piss people off but i am wondering why is Price skating around and shooting puck without goalie gear.
if i was struggling like he is and trying to get the number on spot i would be busting my *** in nets.
then again i am not a profession goalie so i dunno how these things work.. it's just weird because not to many other goalies do this... especially when they are trying to be number 1
Only here would something so minor be blown up into something so negative about a player.
Only here, would he be considered a struggling goalie.
Stur the pot,lol
from the comments i read today i think the pot has been stirred enough lol
I think it's pretty clear when a respected guy like Markov, who is known as a quiet guy in the dressing room, calls you out on your work ethic, that there is a problem. Markov is not the kind of guy who runs his mouth in the dressing room, so if he had to say something to Price then it's obvious there is a problem with his work ethic. why else would some of his teamates nickname for him be "superstar"?
*Disclaimer*
Price fanboy's beware, this post contains someone's opinion who doesn't worship the ground lord Carey walks on.
except the consensus is that there was a discussion but that it was blown out of proportion. markov said nothing happened. price said that there is a little flare up every day. how does this entail the stuff that was reported. you're assuming that is what was said. the words were placed on the situation by a reporter who believes price has a bad work ethic. you did the same just now. also, note that price came back AFTER practice to shoot a puck. maybe he needs time to reflect. maybe he just wants to shoot a puck around. who cares. you guys are ridiculous. price is usually there during all optional skates and 30-60 min before practice. dont question a guy's work ethic just because he keeps calm in the net. critique his play, not his heart. thats just pure speculation.
well i deffinately give Markov the benefit of the doubt...
he is the longest serving hab and is very passionate about the game
exactly! if it were someone else I would have said ho hum whatever, but Marky..!?! no fricken way, if Marky is callin your *** out you know it's serious and there is a problem, Markov is a classy franchise guy who does his talking with his play on the ice.
i'm just glad that markov is finally talking to his team mates lol...
the guy used to never talk
All goalies have their habits to loosen up/relax, shooting the puck around could be his thing.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
Shooting pucks alone is good alone time and gives you time to think. It shouldn't be a bigger deal than just that.
fair enough...
btw that guy who posted that photobucket link of you (if it really is you) is effin creepy dude.
i thought it was a funny picture or something when i saw the link
whats creepy is how you two give each other reach arounds...get a room
very mature... *rolls eyes*
very mature how you attacked me by insulting me, then crying like a baby when I attack back... pathetic...
i didn't attack you... i didn't cal you a moron or anything.
i just found it creepy that you posted the guys picture...
just wanted to show some of the other adults here that he is a kid

Doesn't matter, we all have fans, I guess.
Keep in shape, stay on the ice for a bit, time away from the media and the fans tearing him apart and seeking solace in the comfort of the ice away from it all?
Wearing goalie gear and skating around by yourself to get away from it all, stoping pucks that aren't there would just look silly, so he shoots a couple of pucks and tunes out the world for a bit?
haha well let's not sound melodramatic here...
but fair enough that he just does it to unwind
I wasn't trying to be dramatic. It's a 22 yr old kid away from home, who's been the target of a lot of attacks from the fans, the media and so forth. There's tonnes of stress on him and I can't imagine any human being not feeling some of the stress after awhile. When stressed, a lot of athletes will go out onto the court or surface of their discipline and just kill time to get away from it all.
Larry Bird would likely be out shooting free throws, Peyton Manning would be throwing footballs at a tire, A-Rod would be hitting off of a tee or throwing a tennis ball at a wall, Tiger's probably alone on a range or course just playing for fun etc. Price is a hockey player so I figure this is his way of getting away from the world (speficially lately, the Markov-gate over the StLouis game).
It's tough to deny that there's been a lot of stress and attention, not much of it very good, directed at this young man and he doesn't really have many older wiser veterans to turn to for advice on how to deal with it, so I can see it affecting him. This would apply to anyone in the same sort of environment (before anyone starts making more accusations of babying Price)
for sure all what you stated is true...
sometimes we forget that players are human too... and in teh case of price he's still a kid
What this team needs right now is a trade to boost the moral of the players that have to carry the load. What in the hell does Atlanta want for a rental . I would say they are asking for the leg , arm and 50% of all remaining body parts.
Y'a rien de mechant aujourd'hui! Aye yoyoye!
Simple Plan cursed Tuesdays. I stand by that story.
Does anyone have the time (or patience) to tell me how many "Mechants Mardis" games we've won in comparison to how many we've lost since the Simple Plan addition? I bet it's something like 1/3. I'll be compiling.
Hahahahaha you changed your avatar, puss.
Did I make you go cry to you mommy?
Did you say something about it?
No need to rush Cammy back this team will be well out of the playoffs race by the time the olympic breaks comes around. This could be be worst than the beating they took out in vancouver. If I was Halak I tell JM I have the flu and why are they playing him. Price's cofidence is shattered, so are they trying to do the samething to Halak. We have one goalie playing strong and they are throwing him to the wolves.
He wants to be a starting goalie, you don't become one by trying to run away and hide from the good teams and only playing the weaker clubs. You can guarantee that he wants to challenge himself out there tonight and looks forward to it. It's often easier when you're given no chance to win because no matter what, you can't really fail out there and can only win or break even.
This is great news. I hate not having him in the lineup but 6 weeks or so isnt too bad long term. Now, if we can just find a way to score a few goals. Maybe Price can play on the 4th line tonight!

Man,What is with these people calling each other names and all (grow the F*&k up )
REMEMBER DON'T ARGUE WITH A FOOL,SOMEONE COULD BE WATCHING AND NOT TELL DIFFERENCE.
CAMMY for CAPTAIN NOW....i dont care if hes not back for 14 or so games......Hes got the "C" tattoed on his heart....put it on his jersey !!! Get well , its great news that hes walking and that theres NO surgery required !!! We still need a trade or two , but i agree its not dire before the deadline......we need 100% of the guys on that bench to make any run to and in the playoffs......so heres hoping Bob keeps a straight head and does the right deal without rushing......like binnoculars burke did......man i hope they get crushed tonight and phenuef gets his arm broken somehow......HAY_Ohhhhh....
I think he'd make the perfect captain. The guy lives for competition and you can tell by his body language that he wants it. It's better than forcing it upon someone who might not be into it (Markov). I don't want whoever is going to be captain's game to suffer because he didn't REALLY want the position. Gotta love the passion this guy has for the game and for winning.
No surgery. He might be ready right after the Olympics. You heard it here first. Fingers crossed.
He'd still have about 3-4 weeks of healing to go. Hopefully, he rehabilitates quickly, though.
Sooo... how about that Cammlleri guy not needing surgery?

Good news, although sometimes they say that and then decide a few months later that they have to operate anyway. Let's hope he has a fast, uneventful recovery.
Can somebody with knowledge of how the cap works post whether or not we have accumulated significant cap space because of all our injuries this year? If we have a couple of million extra because of the injuries, shouldn't we be looking for a forward?
we only get relief when the player is on the LTIR, but when that players returns we lose that relief, so right now with AK and Cammy on LTIR( are they on it??not 100% but lest assume they are)we could bring on a player with a high cap hit but then would need to make moves when they are ready to come back, remember what happened with Briere last year it got real hard for the Flyers to get him back in the lineup.

Yeah, not needing surgery is good, but what else does he bring?
Get outta here. Stop talking about hockey. This clearly isn't the place for it.
i don't get people who take the internet so seriously that they feel the need to whine and attack non stop...fresh air = serious business.

...good news ...no surgery required ...knee injuries can ruin hockey careers, and the first injury weakens it for the next
Habitant means PASSIONATE HOCKEY

Knew a guy who had his football career ruined cause of a knee, was going to go to a US university too.
Knees and ankles can do that fast. They're such weak joints when considering exactly how much weight, pressure, and impact stresses are put on them constantly.
So the habs gonna make a trade or what, come tradedeadline, or olympic break?
