There was little news to report from the morning skate today. The Canadiens were able to start early because the Blackhawks took the day off after losing 2-0 in Nashville last night. (Cristobal Huet stopped 25 of 26 shots and the second Nashville goal went into an empty Chicago empty net.
Carey Price will start in goal and there will be some changes on the top two lines. Scott Gomez will centre Andrei Kostitsyn and Brian Gionta while Mike Cammalleri will be on the second line with Tomas Plekanec and Maxim Lapierre.

... from Chris Kuc / Chicago Tribune - Huet in Goal for Blackhawks against Habs ..... http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2009/10/huet-in-goal-for-blackhawks-against-canadiens.html
Dream scenario.
Andre Kostitin - hat trick
Carey Price - shut out.
Habs win 5-0
___________________________________________________________________
This concludes our broadcast. Goodnight.
Screw it, while we're at dream scenarios, Ill throw mine in. Price 30+ save shutout, cammy double hat trick, Gio hat trick, Gomez 5 assists 1 goal, Markov shows up completely healed and the habs go on to finish 76-6-0 with every win except 6 of 'em shutouts for price, continue sweep every single series in the playoffs, winning their 25th stanley cup, cammy leading the league with 93 goals. next year is similar.
Gio!
You forgot Huet gets yanked!
Just read a piece on CBC about goalie masks as it is the 50th anniversary on Sunday of Plante's mask debut.
http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/story/2009/10/30/spf-insidehockey-mask-a...
anyway it says that David Arrigo is finishing a Remembrance Day mask for Price. Anyone else hear anything about this?
Elmer Lach's #16 jersey should join the Rocket's #9 in the rafters.
Make nice, ya'll! I feel a s#*t-storm of blame and hatred coming on (and I don't like it). We're friends here.
Minor correction: he stopped 26 out of 27 shots.
Ex nihilo nihil fit
COME TOMORROW, PRICE WILL BE BLAMED FOR THE LOSS THAT WILL SURELY HAPPEN UNLESS THE "D" have a unusal game. The problem in the last game and most likely in this one is that the Habs are playing cup contenders and the Habs have to compete with those teams but can only ice an AHL type defence.
Any prediction how many goals Gill will be on the ice for tonight?
Maybe the fowards will score more tonight ............
First goal is huge!!!
Taken from NHL.COM article Canadiens, Hawks look to avoid a losing streak.
"Montreal is 5-1 when scoring the first goal this season, the fifth-best mark in the League, but hasn't yet shown the ability to rally, going just 1-5 when giving up the opening tally."
Do we know if Huet is playing back to back or are we against Niemi?

Niemi is getting the start.
Im seeing Huet listed as starter.
Darn. I think we get in Huet's head a little.

Either that or Price picks it up to show us why trading Huet was a good move.
I really hope so.

I'm getting tired of reading posts Involving Price. Price Is a great goalie on a bad team, his D Is painfull to watch so It Is going to be expected that he has bad nights. The job of a Goalie Is to keep the team In the game, not save the team from being Demolished. The Habs don't have a good team so why blame It on the goalie? He will be great. Will It be In Montreal? that Is up to our management and scouting to Improve what Is around our goalie. If we Improve our personnel, Price will Improve. I promise.
I LOVE the Habs!!!
Price will be a great goalie on another team. He will eventually be a nightmare for Montreal when he ends up playing against us.
I agree with your post for the most part, except when you say Price is a great goalie. Brodeur is great, Price hasn't shown greatness at the NHL level so far. I'm not blaming him for anything this year, I just don't like when players are labelled great undeservedly. He may one day, but he absolutely isn't yet.
I agree with you Kordic. So far this season, our goalies aren't to blame. Its our D and also just finding team chemistry - things take a little while for half a new team to gel.
The thing with Habs fans (including myself) is that we have all been spoilt by great goaltenders from the past - that HAVE been able to win games infront of a mediocre defence. Every goalie after Roy have shown flashes of brilliance (Theodore the most notable) and we all expect that the saviour has come.
I think the reality behind it all is that Price is a good goalie with the potential to be great, but potential means nothing until it comes to fruition. I still have faith in him, and some on this site have mentioned before that Fleury took a couple of years to find his game - so I will give Price until 2011. Its a gamble, but isn't every draft pick a gamble. Some work out (Crosby, Ovechkin), some don't (Daigle, Falloon).
Why we need to be patient with AK46.

interesting points and some good arguments for AK... maybe he should read it.
Very good points. Thanks!

JM should show AK that video before every game. Twice.
Love that compilation.

Makes a lot of sense. And while I'm thinking of it, I hate all of those "we should have drafted..." posts. Who's to say that Mike Richards wouldn't have been a dog had we drafted him, or if Andrei wouldn't have scored 45 last year for Philly.

I have H1N2. Always the bridesmaid...
It really is impossible to tell isn't it, although I think Richards was probably a sure thing with the way he plays. You know what's surprising about Richards though? He's 5'11 and 195 lbs. Mike Richards, if he was on this team, would be a so-called smurf, and wouldn't be that "big" center we always complain about not having. How ridiculous. Height means nothing.

Correction!
Yesterday in answer to a statement about the Douglas Hospital by Boone I errored by saying that my grandfather built with his own bucks the Douglas Hospital. What is correct is that he built the Perry Wing of the Douglas Hospital for his mentally chalenged son and the community. He was my Uncle Perry. Not my Uncle Douglas.
As most of you know, I left the family some 50 years ago. Sorry for my error. My cousin Fred who post on here that I have just reaquainted with called me from his farm in N.Y. to streighten me out.
I am in Brossard today checking out some stuff. One of which is a better place to watch the parade this spring.
Enjoy the game tonight and if I can get into the rink here tomorrow night to watch us cream the leafs, I will be sitting on the left hand side of our bench giving Andre Kostinson a few tips in how to tie his skates so he does not have to wear his street shoes again during the game
I feel like I'm on Oprah. Ay carumba....
I'll be watching for you Ian. You lucky dog!!
They call me Shane
Andrei Kosititsyn always seems to start slow....even when he scored 26 goals and 53 points with Kovalev and Plekanec he only got going in late October early November....With Gionta and Gomez work ethic I definately think its exactly what the guy needs to get motivated
You know Im always willing to cut the younguns a break and give them all the time they need, BUT they have to have the proper attitude; a problem AK and Price seem to have.
Price will be fine. his work ethic and maturity are beyond his years. he just needed to learn to lose.
as for Ak, he only needs to adapt to this new Martin culture. and i agree, with both Gionta and Gomez, and Martin's apparent patience for AK, we should start seeing progress at a nice rate.
Price's work ethic is beyond his years alright, its akin to the work ethic of a 70 year old.
How do you know? What Pierre Houde says is not gospel, just opinion. If yu have first-hand knowledge of his work ethic, I'd like to know.
A few have brought it up. Sutter when he was team canada coach, carbo has, and when players say 'Halak works hard' that pretty much means the other guy doesnt work so hard.
What players? Because from what I heard Price didn't work hard in practice LAST year, and didn't keep up his conditioning after his ankle injury. This year however Martin praised his conditioning and work ethic in training camp and continues to do so.

Well if his work ethic has improved then good for him. Its early in the year, of course what I said didnt take into account this year since its barely off the ground...I cant believe it made some so mad, some of you need to get a life.
LMFAO - with logic like that you must live a charmed life...
Keep believing thse delusions, they are idiotic. Specially since hmmmm seems Martin visited Price while PRICE was practicing on his OWN in Calgary... OFF SEASON!!!!!
I have NO problem with Carey's work ethic... Whatever works for him so long as wins are happening.
What a lovely rational post. I apologize if my post disturbed your inner peace so much.
Pot Meet Mr. Kettle...
;)
I never BS. Ive been called worse by a lot of people on here who ended up eating crow in the end.
I love the spelling mistakes! In another life I was a teacher...Over the years I collected multiple spellings of "stupid"...
stupud, studip, stupit, stupied, stuput, stutip, stuiped, studiped, stewped, stewpit, stepwt, stoopid, stopied, studit, stuppid, stoupied... among others.
Upon reflection they all seem to fit Brian Burke...
"If all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail." (anon)
Agreed, but if price gets bombarded with quality scoring chances, he will be picked apart right now. Or maybe not... what do I know?
Oh well, Halak need a rest after that crappy game. Let's just hope the forwards do what they need to do.
Kostitsyn-Gomez-Gionta
Cammalleri-Plekanec-Lapierre
Pacioretty-Metropolit-Moen
Latendresse-Chipchura-Laraque-D'Agostini
(Source: RDS)
Love these lines -- they're how I would have started the season if I were coach, which fortunately for everyone I am not.
I'm stoked!
Lantendresse-Metropolit-Moen would be a great line if Lats decides to play hard with a bit of mean streak to his game by crashing the net and battling for possession to score a garbage goal from time to time. That's how Latendresse needs to play with some heart and the willingness to win the battles in front that would allow his linemates to feed him the puck. Wakeup Lats and be aggressive when your on the ice. Go Habs Go!!!!
I believe if the canadiens keep the shots to the perimeter Price will have a good night, shutout maybe, maybe not. If we allow odd man rushes I don't think he's going to come up with the huge saves against this strong blackhawks team. We need good 2 way hockey tonight from all the guys to make Price succesfull.
With our defense the way it is, Price will not get many shots from the perimeter, he will get the close in shots, the odd man rushes that destroyed Halak, and of course the close in tackle and then shots. Price does not use his size to his best advantage. Maybe he just needs to build muscle and more mass.
The problem is Price is a Smurf, and he really is too small for his position.
The biggest problem with our defense is that they are leaving players in from of the net to score on easy shots. We really need to hit more...
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey...
I hope the comment referring to price is sarcasm.
Gio!
CP needs to be bombbarded with shots early to keep him focused. The more shots CP faces the better he is. CP is at his worst when he faces a shot every 4-5 mins!
"Truth! You can't handle the Truth"
CP will get his first shutout of the 2009/10 season tonight. U herd it here first & I will not brag about it after the game! CP told me that he was hungry, he wants his #1 job back & he's never giving it up again!!!
"Truth! You can't handle the Truth"
IDIOT... If Carey Price gets a shut out tonight, you better come in here and brag to everyone over and over... I will do the same. Especially the Price bashers. Go Price Go... (Secret moderators, My 'Idiot" statement was sarcastic... I do not think this guy is an idiot...)
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey...
LMAO @ JoeyB
The Wife is making me go out with her so I am PVRing the game. It will be in around 8pm so I will probally wait & watch it when the live game is over.
HAPPY WIFE = HAPPY LIFE .... If she is unhappy, so will U but with half your stuff...
"Truth! You can't handle the Truth"
What's PVR? Here in the USA we have DVR that you can get with your package. D for Digital. Did you make a typo or what does the P stand for? I will be doing the same, as I think I will be in around 9-10. My Brother in law graduated from the Maryland State Police academy. So they don't care about The Habs. But yeah, puck doesn't drop till 8:30-8:45pm.
My wife strives to make ME happy.... So yeah, im in the same story as you...
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey...
PVR = personal video recorder
DVR = digital video recorder
no diff. names change. DVD now stands for Digital Video Disc, but when it was first created it stood for Digital Versatile Disc. i think DVR was adopted for marketing.
I figured they were industry wide terms, thanks, but in Quebec as we know things get new names. Always fascinating. Ok not this time, personal... pretty boring. but thanks.
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey...
It's TiVo. But Canadian, and available through your digital service provider.
If your home by 8, and you live in the eastern time zone, youll be able to watch it live, puck drop wont be till twenty to nine.
GO PRICE GO
Halak will be back in nets tomorrow night. Halak plays well at home. Priceberg is the road man and is looking to the Maxs to pop a few tonight. Go Habs Go!!!!
Back to back games or not, Martin has to go with the hot hand!
"Truth! You can't handle the Truth"
I agree with U!!!!
If Price is the road man, then the five road loss, (hmmm...Price seems to enjoy losing more than 3 games in a row like the road to the playoffs last year and the playoffs) then Price is not the road man we think he is. There is something wrong with Price. He dazzles us with great saves only to let in floaters, and like any good goalie (not Price as a good goalie) to be scored on with those blind shots etc.
Hey Nuna! R U & habsrsmurfs "Life Partners"?
"Truth! You can't handle the Truth"
Yet his stats are better than Patrick Roy's first 2 seasons... I think there is something wrong with you. Who was the Captain when the Habs saw excellent potential in a Goalie and let his go into the playoffs in his roockie season in 1986???
Do you think that maybe this Captain knows more about hockey than you, and don't you further agree this Captain can make better decisions regarding Hockey than you???
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey...
u owned him! GO CAREY GO!
hope you're right!
Aww...don'tcha you aren't supposed to use the "S" word? For superstituous reasons of course! :) I hope to heck you are right. It would be a great way for him to get back in there. I will cross my fingers...
He told YOU? Don't tell me you are close personal friends. Then I would have to be jealous.
Only during a game the "S" word can't be mentioned....LOL...
"Truth! You can't handle the Truth"
Unless the game is on TSN... Gord Miller never fails to mention the 'S' word and jinx the Hab goalie.
Well now I feel a tad silly. Thanks for keeping me in line.
If it does happen, you, me and that other guy should ALL be on here bragging.
The hope is the hundreds of thousands watching the game agree with that
3 spelling mistaks in that short pargraph. The guys must be boozin' in the daytime agin.
Actually there are 5. And two in your one-line comment!
No, there are three (or four) in his comment. Things are getting worse all the time!
--------------------------------------------------- `Could this team miss the playoffs? Who knows?' - Bob Gainey on the new Habs.
seriously. I cant believe people don't realize that if you're going to call someone out for spelling mistakes you better make sure not to make any of your own.
some peeple have such pour grammer
