Not all of the Canadiens have finished playing hockey.
Andrei and Sergei Kostitsyn and Mikhail Grabovski are in Quebec, wearing the world-championship jersey of with their native Belarus. Tomas Plekanec will join the Czech Republic for the tournament, as well, as will Saku Koivu (Finland) and Andrei Markov (Russia).
The Canadiens came through the Bell Centre today to clean out their belongings and head into summer after a massive signing of charity souvenirs and their annual postseason team dinner.
The "scandal" of the day: Alex Kovalev is reported to have received a text-message saying he's was too slow to make Russia's team to the worlds. The Russian coach has since denied that a message of any kind was sent, and that Kovalev is not on the squad because it already had four good lines.
Audio from the chaos follows. And go here for Boone's detailed take on the day.
• Mark Streit (English) • Streit (French) • Carey Price 1 • Price 2 • Chris Higgins
Geez, I hope they sign Andrei Kostitsyn and Jaroslav Halak as their first priorities.
Also, give Mikhail Grabovsky a chance!
"We will win the Cup only with Carey Price in the nets"
Double Post.
The Original 24 Cups
Where?
My other line was
double post double post, double post fun!
I'm interested to see Markov keep playing for Russia. Given the way he performed down the stretch, I could've sworn he was hurt...
Speaking of packing...I gotta go pack for Cancun!!! :)
I'd love to join you!"We will win the Cup only with Carey Price in the nets"
Habs had a great year and they have great potential but we lack in some areas... such as a big gritty forward, a policeman, and maybe help on 'D' ... depending on what happens with Mtl's UFAs.
(1 or 2)
Forward: Roberts, Gaustad, Jagr (i thought he was up for grabs this year but didn't see him on the list?)
(One only of:)
Enforcer: Laraque, Koci, Parker, Shelley, Riley Cote, McGrattan, Simon
(1 or 2)
Defense: orpik, Mike Green
Anyway here is a list http://hockeyworld.wordpress.com/2008-nhl-free-agents/ ...
get your wish list in to Bob
I agree with Habsguy about the core base of players we have on our team, both now and in the near future. BUT, I cannot stress the importance of having a couple of big, bruising players on our team. I for one didn't think we would lose to the Flyers. But witnessing their big, albeit slow, guys forechecking and tiring our speedy Euros, it was evident that we need to pick up some muscle.
Spin Conference - Question for Mr.Gainey : Is it true that Carbo has a bonus clause in his contract that only kicks in when Lats has dressed for 95% of the regular season games (injuries excluded), lol.
Habs inside/out.
I apologize for the personnal attack I made on a fellow poster.
It will never happen again..
And then CHASE has to enter the room and ruin everything.
Why don't you go away, nobody here, and I mean NOBODY likes you...You are lower then what I clean out of my cats litter box, you are lower than what I flushed down the toilet this morning. As a "matter of fact" I think I may have stepped on you yesterday....
And I really don't care if they kick me out of the room for "telling it like it is"
you're right Pat...you wont see it again..thanks..
Chuck,
Take the high road my friend.
I'll admit that some of the comments made are pretty ignorant and I've reacted to them as well.
I've now realized that if you just don't respond, people like that will go away. Someone here gave me that advice the other day. Attention is what they seek and they will do anything to get it. You're above that.
And I for one don't want you kicked out as I enjoy reading your posts.
thank you Big Bird, and I enjoy yours as well...I'll take the advice you gave.
It really gets my goat that someone like him is allowed to disrupt a good friendly chat..
But in saying that, I will not let him lower me to that level again..thanks again !!!
I LOVE the look of this team..Do you guys & girls realize that even with all the key graduates ( the K bros, O'B, Price, Lats, Lap ) and if you throw in some of the young guns like Higgins & Pleks..we're still (according to) hockeys future the #4 rated organization in the league....Imagine what this team will look like in 2 or 3 years when (and if) (sigh)the likes of Valentenko, Emilin hit the team...Throw in Chipchurra, Ryan McDonagh, Ben Maxwell, David Fischer, Max Pacioretty...
We're going to have some fun watching this team grow !!!!
I cab't wait !!!!!!!
I agree great base. Fantastic base to grow with. But I hope we don't blow playoff games away because of our goaltending 3 years from now. I mean its got to concern all of us!!
it doesn't concern me..I see our goaltending as the foundation !!!!
Hold on here "hyprocite" is not deserved. My opinions are constructive and I have stated that he has had good moments. But having said this in those same game what he was expected to stop he did not and look very bad not doing so. This cost us games. As for game 7 of the Boston series he played well but you expect your goalie to play well in game 7. Again I ask how much sooner would the series against Boston have been over if Price would have played well in games 2, 3, 4 , 5, and 6. In games 5 and 6 he let in 10 goals and and again many of them were very weak. Stong constructive opinion yes, "hypcrocite" no
Yeah, I am with you, lets throw them away start all over... Halak too. Maybe Huet will come back! Oh wait he exited in the first round? Anyway, Price and Halak should have had shutouts in every game no excuses. Also, while were at it, Pitt should have gotten rid of Fluery while they had the chance... he's just proves that goalies can't improve with age. What an imbarrassmnet! If you don't win the Cup every year than they should be out!
Oh Please... give me a break!
In 7 games with a much weaker team in front of him
Relax. No one said to throw anyone away! The question becomes did he cost us games. Yes he did. Is it forgiveable? Perhaps yes were in development mode. Can he be an impact goalie. My opinion, my thoughts, my prediction is "no". Anything wrong with this?
"(now happening) wait, (till he's 23) falter, (will happen) and fail (about 24 years of age) will cost the Habs." Your earlier statement sure suggested it, Why keep a goalie whose envitable going to fail and cost the Habs?
Because they will keep him. He' comes with the so much hype, almost like he's the second coming of moses! Under these conditions how good are his chances?
Seriously. Can we NOT move on? You just keep spewing the same crap. Obviously I'm not the only one getting bored with it. Next....
...........
"To you from failing hands we throw the torch. Be yours to hold it high."
I STILL BELIEVE. I WILL ALWAYS BELIEVE.
Are you for real, Dude?!?! "Had the Habs did this" and "If we split the series against so and so" "we would be this and that". We played 82 games and finished as the #1 seed. What part of that don't you understand? Yes, we lost in round 2 two an inferior team that wore us down with their physical play and a goaltender with a horseshoe up his behind. We need to get bigger. Move forward and stop speculating on what may have been if the stars all aligned in a different way than they did on a particular series.
another repetitive post, i guess you just copy and paste over and over again. Welcom back for-fact-sakes, i missed making fun of you.
Just Conference champs eh?
When was the last time they won the Conference? I'd consider it progress.
"Chase, I completely agree with you"
Quelle surprise! People with long memories remember you as one of the original Gainey bashers from way back.
Again?! Seriously?
They DIDN'T split - they won the games and got all the points... that's why they play the games... if we did everything your way, every team would be 36-36. Every playoff series would go to game 7, and that game would never end....
If the habs had won every game they would have been 98-0 with another cup.
How does proclaiming that he will fail (not may, might, possibly, etc.) amount to anything remotely close to "constructive"?
Brodeur, Huet, Lundqvist, and a slew of other good goalies let in four or more goals during the playoffs. I guess they should all be shipped down to the AHL, right?
