Flyers – Penguins II

posted by Mike Boone at 12h56 EST on May 11

Setting up the post early today so I can go spend some time with my dear 91-year-old mother.

Mike Ribeiro: Phone home. Whatever she tried to teach you didn't take.

Maxim Talbot will be back in the lineup for the Penguins for Game 2.

Hey, if Pittsburgh wins topnight can we proceed directly to the Penguins-Red Wings all skills/all the time final that we want to see?

That way hockey will be over before the end of the month and we can can get out and enjoy the sunshine.

I can't watch the playoffs anymore. The Habs should be there.

Anybody see the usa finland game? Watching the Koivu bros play together is fun as well as Selanne. What about that "goal" that went through the side of the net and in. Even after video review clearly showed this, the goal still counted. What a boneheaded mistake.

I'm happy Pittsburgh won. I have to give respect to Richards, what a great player.

Mike Boone's picture

Briere really weak behind the Pittsburgh net there.
Neither of these teams looks as good as Detroit.

Wow Crosby. Do you need me to teach you how to raise the puck? This isn't pond hockey, raisies ARE allowed.

Walter Takzchuk, Bill Barber, Larry Robinson, Scott Stevens, Al MacIniss, Paul Coffey, Paul Reinhart, Rick Chartraw, Gilbert Dionne, Brian Bellows, Doug Risebrough, Don Edwards, Gaston Gingras,Dale Hunter, Jeff Larmer, Don Maloney, Dave Maloney, Steve Rice, Mike Robataille, Steve Downie, Derek Roy, MIKE RICHARDS, YANNICK WEBER

Some Kitchener NHL Alumini....who am i missing?? GO RANGERS

Somebodys going to grab our coach, Peter DeBoer, do the Habs have any room for this guy. He has paid his dues and will be a good one.

the_larry's picture

Why did you capitalize some names and not others?

I think Mike Richards is a team you can build a franchise around and I am hoping that Weber will be another successful Ranger alumini as a montreal Canadien. Also there is a guy playing for the rangers, Mikkel Bodker, who is in this years draft who I think is a Gainey prototype, fast, smart, skilled.

What a backhand by Crosby!

Sammy's picture

This is probably the most important 10 minutes of the Flyers season. They cannot afford to go down 2-0 in the series.

Angry Almond's picture

Wow, camera's all over Hatcher, however it's Downie's lazy stick and then trying to play the hit behind the net that caused that goal.

bigjames's picture

that was a hard work goal

Mike Boone's picture

Fourth line energy against a tired D.

the_larry's picture

Great shift by Gary Roberts! Its gonna be a great final 11 mins.

the_larry's picture

Crosby needs to shoot when he's on those 2on2's or 2on1's. That would have been a great time to shoot right between the defensmen's legs.

Sammy's picture

Thing is that Crosby's first reaction is always to pass because he is a playmaker, he is not a sniper.

the_larry's picture

Yeah, and he is good at that so I wont give him any tips on it lol.

Mike Boone's picture

Ruutu really suckered Biron. The series is heating up.

Sammy's picture

Philidelphia plays a very ugly game.

drive for 25's picture

mike any news on the contract negotiations

Mike Boone's picture

Whose?

drive for 25's picture

any?

There is a lot of timne left till free agency I'm sure Gainey isn't going to rush things and I'm sure the players may want a few weeks to spend with their family and friends after the season.

andrei?

Mike Boone's picture

Have to admire Philly's guts. Top two defencemen out ...

You know how sometimes you have players you really wished played elsewhere?

Like, the one stinker on what is otherwise a great team who stops you from completely enjoying that team

Or

The one gem of a player who you love, but whose team you hate so much it hurts you

Jeff Carter is one of those gems. I love that kid, ever since seeing him eat up the ice in the 04 and 05 WJHCs, but I really wish I didn't have to see him play with that black and orange logo on his chest.

Malkin not at morning skate today and sluggish tonight..
I wonder if he was injured by the Richards check in Game 1.
