The young goaltender was one of the first to face the cameras, notebooks and microphones today. Wearing a black Harley-Davidson cap and the ensemble du jour, tee and jeans, Price talked about his immediate plans to get away from hockey. He and some friends are going to Cancun after he heads home to Anahim Lake in B.C. "to get away from it all."
"It doesn't feel like it's over yet," Price said. "When your season ends in the playoff, it ends real fast. It's kind of a shock."
Price will gear his off-season workout regimen toward his status as the Canadiens' number-one goaltender.
"Last summer I didn't really know what to expect," he said. "Now I do. I gotta put in the work this summer and come as best prepared I can for next year."
The lesson Price derived from the playoffs, he said, was the importance of "keeping it on an even keel."
"We might have got too high at some points and too low at other points. You can't let that happen."
Price admitted to feeling "a little worn out" at the end of the Canadiens' run.
"I feel like I've been playing hockey for two years straight."

Mark Streit is an unrestricted free agent. While playing for a bargain-basement $600,000 this season, the Swiss defenceman/forward had 13 goals, 49 assists and was third in team scoring, behind Alex Kovalev and Tomas Plekanec.
"The team gave me a chance," Streit said, "and you know what? I love the city. For me, it's the best hockey city in the world. It's the best place to play as a professional hockey player. My first choice is Montreal."
Streit – who went through the playoffs with a partial tear in is back "similar to the injury Komisarek had" – will be 31 in December. He has chosen a very good tim to have a career season, and this is probably his last chance to cash in big-time.
"I think at the end of the day I make the choice," Streit said. "And in every choice of my career, it's very important that I'm happy.
"I have to feel comfortable where I play. I've been saying for a while my first choice is Montreal. Hopefully, we'll find a way that I'm going to be here for, I don't know, three, four, five years ... a long time."
Affter what he callled a "heartbreaking end" to the Canadiens' season, Streit will take a couple weeks to decompress before thinking about his UFA status. He did not indicate whether insistence on playing defence, his preferred position, would be an element of negotiations with the Canadiens.

Josh Gorges is a restricted free agent this summer. He made $495,000 for a season in which the 23-year-old emerged as a Top 6 defenceman.
"I'm not going to think about (contract status) right now," Gorges said. "I want to be back here. I want to be playing here for a lot of years.
"I'd love to stay," he added. "Playing in this city, it couldn't be any better. The passion of people who come to the games, you just really see the love of the game here. I don't think you hav that for hockey anywhere else in the world.
"It's a beautiful city . And this building when it's rockin' ..."
Gorges' season was representative of a team that rocked the Bell Centre on many nights, overachieving and confounding experts, most of whom predicted Canadiens would miss the playoffs.
"That was the case for a lot of guys," Gorges said of exceeding expectations, "myself, the Kostitsyn brothers, Mark Streit. A lot of guys stepped up this year and proved people wrong.
"We believed in ourselves and in each other as a team. We thought we were as capable of making the playoffs as any team out there.
"We just went out and played and had fun. The biggest key to our success was guys enjoyed coming to the rink and playing together."

The Brothers Kostitsyn and Mikhail Grabovski played for Belarus in the Worlds today. Tomas Plekanec will join the Czech Republic team and, surprisingly, Andrei Markov will play for Russia.
"He decided to join the team last night. The 11th hour change of heart is attributable to Markov's admirable patriotism.
"That's my country," he said. "If they think I can help the Russian team, I have togo. That's something inside you, you know."
Markov said it was "tough to say" how hampered hhe was by a banged-up shoulder annd knee during the playoffs. He said the injuries were "not bad right now."
"Sometimes it bothered me, sometimes not," the taciturn defenceman added. "But I could play with it."
Markov's own playoff contribution, he said, could have been "a little more and a little better."
"It was a good experience for us," Markov said of the 12 playoff games. "We know next season we'll have to play better.'

Jaroslav Halak is another RFA. Will he be content to come back to Montreal as Carey Price's backup?
"Everybody loves to play," Halak said. "I would love to play, but you have to earn it first."
It's rumoured that Halak may end up in the Russian elite league.
"I'd love to play here in North America," he said. "I'm young, and there's still time to go and play in Europe.
"Carey is a great goalie and he's young. We're just trying to push each other to play better."

Christopher Higgins will hang around Montreal for a while "because I've already paid my rent for May."
"Then I'll go home and train with Mikey (Komisarek) and enjoy the beaches."
According to sportsnet, who have their info from LaPresse,
there's a rift between Saku and Alex. Apparently Alex is a more fun type of guy and perhaps some players responded more positively during his tenure as captain. Saku,
allegedly, is more of the serious, tight ass type.
Russian team turns down Alex because he's too...slow.
GO HABS.
Can we now stop booing Briere? I'm not sure how many of you understand French, but he is the classiest, nicest guy in all of his interviews. He compliments the other teams, especially the Habs all the time. It ripped his heart out to turn down the Canadiens, but sometimes people have to make tough choices. I am sure he discussed things with his wife, and they decided that Philly was a better fit for a lot of reasons, including personal ones. Get over it. I for one have a great respect for the guy, and I hope he does well.
Go Habs Go!!
Habsrule
Briere said his wife really didn't want to live in Montreal. Would any of you people really have overruled your significant others in his situation? There are lots of possible reasons why he/she/they might not have wanted to come here. Maybe she doesn't speak French. Maybe they want to send their kids to English school. Maybe she has family in Pennsylvania. Maybe she has a rewarding career at a company with an office in Philly. Whatever the reason, it's personal. Which means it’s none of our business.
What’s more, the man doesn’t have an obligation to play here just because it’s where he was born. If some cosmic loyalty rules dictated that this were the case, half the teams in the league wouldn’t have any players, and all the Habs’ European players would be back in Finland, the Czech Republic, Belarus, Russia, Switzerland, the USA, etc... And we'd be fearing the hockey powerhouses in Mississauga, Sherbrooke and Moose Jaw.
Give it a rest guys. It was his choice to make, and he made it. Now we have a choice too: we can make asses of ourselves booing him for no reason, and ensuring that he’ll never want to play here in the future, or we can just cheer on our boys and enjoy the game.
1. www.flickeringpictures.com - not a hockey site, but still kinda neat
2. Josh Gorges on Montreal's attack: "They're comin', they're comin' and they keep comin'. Just line after line, wave after wave..."
"It ripped his heart out to turn down the Canadiens"
Why, did you discuss this with him personally?
You can choose to not boo Briere anymore. I'll stick to the plan.
Boo Brier Boo!!
No, smartass, I didn't discuss it with him. If you read my post, you would have noticed I mentioned i didn't know who understands French. I DO. He said exactly that in his post-game interview on RDS.
Boo him all you want, but I think the guy is a class act who made a tough decision that many people don't agree with. that being said, if you pay the money, it's your right to boo him, and my right not to.
Go Habs Go!!
Habsrule
Not questioning what was said Habsrule, but I really have a problem with how it 'ripped his heart out'.
Briere is saying that philly had so much more to offer that he agonizingly had to sign with them. Like, the pain was unbelievable but the tax structure, or the higher salary, or whatever reason that boils down to money basically, made him -oh so painfully- do what he had to do.
I personally wouldn't waste my energy booing Briere either. And I don't hold it against the man because he chose to make a living south of the border. But the guy made a business decision and the pain of it all is nothing but a joke. Kinda like Smyth's tears when his agent and Lowe couldn't close a deal over the last 100K.
GO HABS.
Fair enough. You make some good points.
I guess I just see the good in him....kinda like Darth Vader.
Go Habs Go!!
Habsrule
I also seen him interviewed on an english network and he does seem to be a very likeable guy. No doubt in my mind that he is a little upset about his home province booing him but he accepted it in a very gratious manner.
GO HABS.
He used the Habs to get more money from the Flyers. He was nevvvvvver coming here.
He can bs in all of his interviews for all I care.
Class my ass!
Boo Briere Boo!!
Whatever. I'm still hoping there are people that will see what I see, and not what you want to see.

ENGLISH LESSON NUMBER ONE.
TO ALL YOU POSTERS:
It is "could HAVE", "would HAVE", and "should HAVE". It is NOT: "could OF", "would OF", and "should OF".
Sorry for being such a d----bag, but it drives me crazy.
There are a lot of common ones out there like:
loose, lose
your, you're
there, their, they're
Personally I find the first one to be the most annoying since we don't "loose" games, we "lose" games. I'm not expecting to read grade A English essays here so I try not to let it bother me.
You COULD HAVE not started off by not being so condescending. Additionally, you SHOULD HAVE known that it is always bad form to correct anyones spelling or grammar, and If you WOULD HAVE realized that using all caps is the digital equivalent of yelling at people, posters here MIGHT HAVE perceived your comment as being more constructive.
Understood.
Then don't read the comments, maybe you should of(hope that drives you crazy, you douche bag) taken up riverdance instead of watching hockey.
ah come on showey, you should of not let it offend you, you could of taken the post for what is worth and you then would of wiped your dog's arse with it.
LMAO, yeah your right.
It was not meant as an attack on any individual. Just take it for what it is worth, and maybe you will learn something.
Furthermore, calling me names is fine with me, as long as your grammar and language are correct.
should've, could've and would've would also work just fine
True. That is actually the reason for this common mistake. It sounds just like it.
More fun coming out of the Four Habs Fans.

Gainey and Carbo's postmortem : If journalist's who are intimidated by Mr.Gainey or are scared to lose some of their perks by asking him tough questions don't have to look far for material "REMEMBER FEBUARY 26th Bob". In saying that i don't really mean the Huet trade, or Hossa deal , but little deals that could of re enforced our club for the playoffs which he and Carbo knew was a different ball of wax. As for the Carbo : Why did he insist on keeping Higgins, an excellent two way player , with Saku when he knew the Lapierre line was hurting and especially when offensive forwards were sitting in the stands.
good question because Ryder was definitely offensive, what with him flying airplanes and talking on his cellphone during games.
"good question because Ryder was definitely offensive, what with him flying airplanes and talking on his cellphone during games."
Yeah, I agree. Why couldn't he be more like Grabovski and miss planes instead of making them. Or maybe he should have emulated Dandenault and threaten to talk to his agent if he was going to be treated this way.
Yup, he was really offensive...sigh
it was a joke zep
Oh I know. I was just adding some flavour to it.
I mean, we do have an obligation to appease the more knowledgeable trolls. ;)
"he also did not trade and ate souray last year."
Gainey ate Souray?
So that's where Sheldon went. I was wondering where he ended up. I hope he tasted good.
post of the day so far zep.
Thanks.
I couldn't resist.
had the rangers split with devils the rangers probably would of missed the playoffs also. Had the bruins split their home and home with with leafs in the second last week in the season, the bruins would of missed the playoffs and carolina would of got the last spot due to wins. Fleury wasn't rested, he was hurt half the season, lundqvist wasn't rested either. As usual your points are all wrong.
Rivet vs gorges? Rivet wasn't even a regular in the nhl at 23, like gorges was. Nobody knows how good gorges will be, but has done alot more than rivet at this point in his career. Gorges is in his 2nd full season at 23, rivet was still in the ahl at 23. Besides, you are comparing the throw in for the rivet deal to rivet. The center of the deal was the first round pick which is max pacioretty.
