[The content of Boone's liveblog of the game v. the Ottawa Senators has been moved here. We apologize for the inconvenience, but there was a necessary change that needed to be made right away, and this is the only way it could be done. Thanks for your understanding. --HI/O geeks]
Congrats on the new Drupal site. Excellent choice of content management system, guys!
Go, Habs, Go!
Need to keep the peddle to the metal and not protect a 1 goal lead for 2 periods. Aside from that great game but lost pts because of coaching again. Thats at least 3 pts so far.
Better get a killer instinct soon or we will be in 13th place and Mcguire will be saying I told you so.
A real heartbreaker.
Let's hope The Habs have gained a little confidence going into the next game against Toronto.
Yeah it would be better if we could just scroll down to see all the comments. Progress can be hard thing to get used to sometimes.
Hi Keith,
You can set the number of comments displayed at a time to whatever you want.
Clayton;
I love that sarcasm about Huet not getting the shutout. Another shutout and he'd sit for a week. I still think Price is gonna start againt the leafs tho.......
Let's hope so. Time for Price to get a (jinx word) and hopefully the Habs will be pissed at the loss today.
It's gone from Ryder being a sniper to watching him carry the puck, cough it up, and hoping for a sniper in the rafters. Seriously, Koivu and Higgins have to stop letting him headman the play, he's brutal every game. He costs our PP momentum every game, passes when he should shoot and shoots when he should pass.
Huet was awesome until he let in alfredson's goal, which he had no chance on. He should have stopped neil's, IMO. At least he didn't get the shutout and thus get the start against the leafs. Silver lining much? :)
Love the picture ClaytonM.
Go Habs Go
You know, I love Huet a lot. But I always get the feeling when he's in a game like that, that if he loses the shutout late, he loses his concentration too. It's like he suddenly becomes human. He deserved better tonight, though.
J.T.,
Spot on....
I really don't know where that gamebreaking goal scorer is going to come from. Someone on the current roster who will explode? A trade? Wait until next year and tune in later?
Habs played a smart, tough road game and really did deserve a better fate out of this one, so I totally agree with you on that front. The biggest factor right now, is what will happen tuesday night. The Habs have had a great start, but Tuesday against the hated Leafs will be a character/gut-check game. Lose confidence after this loss to the Sens, and it could be a long week. Bounce back after the loss, and the train has only derailed for short period before getting back on track.
I know that Ryder's name has been circulating more often on this site than a Brittney Spears 'no underware' photo, but at this point, the critics concerns are definately gaining momentum. I hope he gets out of his funk....his streaky goal scoring would have been very welcomed in this game.
This message will self-destruct in 10...9....8...
Well, we beat Ottawa on a number retirement night last year, and we get them again for Robinson's #19 retirement ceremony. Here's to history repeating itself!

I want Latendresse gone and Grabinski gone, bring up Lapierre. This is ridiculous.
sorry i meant 2009 draft pick for tavares
alright I'm starting a trade rumor.
Ryder + Huet to the Kings for Dustin Brown + 2008 first rounder draft pick
Kings get their goalie, we get rid of Ryder, we get a power forward, Kings will suck again next year and we might have a shot at Tavares...
chances of happening?? probably zero...
It would be a nice late season move, in light of Huet's chances of resigning will not be good, considering Price will be breathing down his neck for however long Huet stays here, and I doubt at Huet's age and his late start to his NHL career that he'd like to sit on the bench the moment Price surpasses him. On the contrary to what happened with Souray last year, it would be nice to at least try to get something in return for Huet.
Hey Boone...nice place you have here.
I liked what I saw today, assuming I went blind in the last five minutes. But, overall, it's encouraging the boys can skate with the best team in the league. I think the Habs are one serious, gamebreaking goalscorer away from being a strong contender. That was the difference today...they have an Alfredsson and the Habs do not.
Trevor Timmins, your mission, should you choose to accept it...
I agree they can skate with them but what puzzles me is why they fell back into a defensive shell after full-on pressure worked for 2 periods. This is like the prevent defense in football - it doesn't work.
I think for a young team, asking them to play in a shell only makes them more self-conscious of the fact they are ahead. Just let them go hard for 60 minutes even if we're ahead. Yep, we'll give odd man rushes but we might score another goal and extend our lead.
I think that you're being a little too tough on Huet for this one, Bobby. Ottawa would have had their two goals a lot earlier in the game if Huet hadn't been on his game. After all, he even stopped a penalty shot.

feel bad for huet and the boys, they played a strong game for 53 mins. Two missed assignments in our own end cost us, but at the same time its hard to win against the sens when you score one goal
Hey guys and gals! Welcome to the new and improved HIO, now 98% troll-free!
Off topic, but comments like these are bound to happen with the site being restructured.
I dunno where my validation email is, hopefully on the way. I'm guessing that allows for the option to use a photo/avatar for the posts?
We're not that far away from being a contender. We can skate with anyone in this League and our goaltending is top notch.
If they play like this against the Leafs then we should get the 2 points.
Boone! TSN stole your headline!
To be fair to Ryder, there were a lot of Hab forwards who are now modeling for tomorrow morning's milk cartons. I didn't notice Higgins this afternoon and Kovy didn't do all that much either. I did think that Dandy played his ass off today. It just shows you. It's much more fun playing forward.
Dear Carbo,
I knew Jacques Lemaire New Jersey Devil trapping hockey Circa 2000
Jacques Lemaire New Jersey Devil trapping hockey Circa 2000 was a good friend of mine
Mr. Carbonneau, YOU'RE NO Jacques Lemaire New Jersey Devil trapping hockey team Circa 2000!!!!
Anybody who didn't see the end coming has not followed the Habs for very long...
Well, it WAS an awesome game, tough loss tho, and I still have a bad taste in my mouth over this one. This could be a HUGE loss, confidence wise. Going on the road to T.O. might be just the medicine to cure this Ottawa hangover.
I was surprised to see latendresse on the first PP unit late in the second period. Just an observation....
Nice new look to the site, I'm glad no-one actually used my name, thnx all lol ;)
I move that Boone is no longer allowed to comment on the score until the game is over!
This one's gonna taste like crap for a while. They've just got to turn it into a learning experience.
That said, this group of youngsters skated with and at times outplayed the hottest team in the league for most of the game, and on the national broadcast, no less. Good on them for serving notice that they're not going to be taken for an easy two points by anyone. I'm already looking forward to November 19th.
Now if we could only get Mike to keep his mouth shut... ;)

I think PJ Stock is perfect on CBC. He's smart, he's a former player, and is unassuming, unlike Brunet on RDS. I love his inside look, and he brings up details that most broadcasters ignore.
Great quote, also, about Alfredsson stepping up in the locker room.
Awwwwwww man, but I saw that coming, Habs were getting sloppy in the last 7 minutes.........what a bummer!!!
